Anyone here did some Boxing Day shopping?

Well, this question is address to all of the Canadians.

I got some pretty decent deals... 8 gig Lexar SDHC memory card for 17.99 and a Kingston 8 gig USB drive for 12.99. I also got 2 Sandisk Ultra II 8 gig for 19.99 each. I didn't shop for any clothes or any other stuff.

The Malls were really crowded even though there was a huge snow storm. There snow outside is about 5 feet high and Hummers and Toyota Land Cruisers are getting stuck!

I drove to downtown TO in the morning and the left lane on the Gardner was icey for about 2 kms, there must have been upwards of 20 cars that hit the guard rails!!

I got a Canon Lens for a sweet deal, plus a couple of 8GB USB sticks for $15 each I think.

True! I'm Canadian and have been in the U.S. for about 18 years. Nobody I know here has even heard of Boxing Day!

Spent Christmas in Chicago, and had a ton of snow the week before. Yesterday woke up to rain and 62º F !!!

seriously, i don't know why there is a boxing day, all i know is that stores have a sale and its always crowded, no place to park and a chance to get your car hit and dinged. People go out on boxing day even if there is a snowstorm.....WOW!!
I just stay home

Boxing Day for Canada is the Black Friday for us. It's the single, biggest sales day of the year. I used to go out on Boxing Day, but it was crazy!!!

black represents the color ink of positive sales (as opposed to being in the red). stores used to 'reward' consumers with black friday sales for a good year in sales.

boxing day dates back to medieval times when canada was still under british rule. the idea began by a clay box used in artisan workshops. customers, apprentices and their masters would put gratuities in them and the box would be smashed on 'boxing day' and shared amonst the workers.

lesson learned
