Carly Bluetooth vs Wireless

Just ordered the Carly adapter and it occurred to me after reading another post on here that I ordered the wireless version of the adapter and not Bluetooth.

Does it matter? I assume that the phone app connects to the car via the adapter through the ALDL connector using Bluetooth......but does the wireless version somehow use Wi-Fi? Does it use the phone's hot spot capability?

Maybe this belongs in the Stupid Question thread but asking anyway.

The carly adapter puts out a wifi signal that your phone connects to. I dont think any carly adapter works through bluetooth.

Kind of how a gopro wifi works.

Wifi for ios, bluetooth for android.
