Issues with my Alpine HID Angel Eyes
I had the alpine HID angel eyes (8000k) installed about a month ago and since then have noticed one of the angel eyes randomly won't turn on during start up. It's the weirdest thing and is quite annoying since I usually don't notice it until I'm already driving and see the reflection of only one of my lights from the car in front of me. Switching the lights on/off doesn't do anything, but if I restart my engine, both angel eyes will come back on.
At first I thought it was only one side, but it's quite random and it alternates between the left and right side. Either one of both angel eyes will always turn on, never both turn off. I can't figure out what's causing it, but I'm curious if there's anyone else that has had this same problem? I'm waiting to hear back from Alex to see if he has any ideas since he was the one who installed them for me. Here are a couple of pictures of when it happened earlier today. |

This happens because when you turn off your car you must put back it back to ZERO on ur headlight settings, when you turn on ur car both angel eyes would turn on then the next step would be putting it onto A sign. but everytime you are turning the car off you have to put back to ZERO

My driver side is the same thing...quite annoying. The first time my passenger just went out completely and Alex took care of it for me, but i had to drive to him. Just give him a call he'll take care of it. I'll eventaully have to contact him but now its only once in a few start up when i notice it.

I called Alex when it first started happening and he said he's never heard of it happening to anyone else before but to let him know if it doesn't stop. I'm sure he'll take care of it, but it's still inconvenient and I want to understand what went wrong.
Last time I saw him, the entire trip from OC to Santa Monica took almost 4 hours. There was traffic, then the customer before me was late so I had to wait for him to finish working on that car, then after working on my car he realized he mixed up our kits and installed the 3-series kit in the other car and the 6-series kit in mine. So then I had to wait for Alex to quickly run home to get the right kit for me. I know it was a long day for him, so I can't help but wonder if something else was overlooked. I know he will take care of me but it sucks it didn't work the first time. I'm just looking for some kind of reassurance that it won't happen again if he does fix it (hence understanding what went wrong) so that I don't have to make another trip/trek up to see him. |

I have a Camaross kit and had this issue from the beginning.
Personally I think it has to do with the start-up voltage to ignite the ballast. The voltage sent by the car to the DRL is low, since it was just a regular halogen bulb... and somehow these kits require a little more voltage to light up. It happened to me usually on one side -- until the ballast finally gave up..... so I'm waiting on a new one from Camarross |

Who's problem did you solve? Because it wasn't mine...
I'm still waiting to hear back from Alex on a time when he can meet up with me to get it fix. In fact, it's starting to get worse and has been happening more and more frequently. |

why risk continuing to run something that's malfunctioning, take some pics or vids if you want prior to uninstalling...
