Roof bar info.
Probably something none of you will be interested in, but I just got the roof bars for my forthcoming E92 M3.
The part # is 82 71 0 432 888 This is for the carbon roof. Apparently, none carbon roof M3's have a different part # for the roof bars. Now don't flame me ... my M3 will need to transport me and my friends mountain bikes sometimes ... just like my last E46 M3 !! :-) But thats what makes the M3 such a great all rounder. |

I won't flame you for the roof bars, I plan on buying one to haul my track tires to the track. However, I will give you a friendly flame for leaning stuff against your car. Ouch.
BTW, how much for the roof bars?

that takes away from the whole look of the car...i say they should make attachable roof bars...i dont know maybe they even have them...but they should make ones where your able to put em on when u need them and take them off when your done biking or whatever it is your doing

so... are these NOT the same part as the e92 335? If not: dang!
I was really hoping I would get to re-use that part from my 335... I race road bikes, so I'll need to transport bikes as well. I certainly won't leave them up there. They are pretty easy put up on race weekends and take down when I'm not driving 2 guys and 4 bikes all over the south east. |

Did you check out Thule? When I was researching these, I didn't like the BMW OEM system, and opted for the Thule system (cost more but worth it), which I keep setup and simply screw the entire system on and off my roof each time I use it, takes no more that 5 minutes, super easy. I planned to continue to do this in my soon to be arriving e93M3, but i was hoping that I could use my same system I have now.

Grow up and quit calling people names. Can't you defend your ignorance without personal attacks? Never mind, you already answered that... Your screen name would lead people to believe you know everything about an M3. Nuff said.

your very right my "brother" lol i have no argument that i am not educated in that department...the whole point is to ask questions about stuff your not knowledgeable about or need information on...so if someone makes a thread about something they dont know looking for answers they automatically dont know anything? its not a crime not to know about something

Sweet!! Best color for the amount I use my car and it always looks clean(my e46M is Silver Gray)
So, back to what i was saying, haha....your e46 racks will not fit on the e92? Are the mounts different?

That's a bummer, I was hoping to look for some E46 racks on ebay to put on my E92.
Maybe we could get someone to test fit the E46 rack on an E92.

Crazy - I had assumed the CF roof procluded racks altogether. Kudos to BMW for keeping the mounts.
Nice bikes. If you ever want a FELT @ a good price, I might be able to help. |

just curious what is the load limit for the M3 roof rack system? Like skier said, this would be great to carry your track tires or to get one of those fiberglass, color-matched cargo containers for traveling.

apw, When you get your roof bars in and install them, could you give me the measurement between the bars front edge to front edge. I'm going to have a friend of mine weld me an aluminum tire holder to go on top the bars.
Thanks.

http://www.thuleracks.com/fg_vehicle.asp For racks, BMW OEM are not the best quality at all(not sure who they outsource to)...have you seen them in person? If not, check them out and you'll see what I mean....the blades are not even rubber coated, so you have to be super careful not to scratch your roof, let alone a CF roof. Turns out I can just switch my current e46 mounts with the e92 fitted mounts and I'm i'll set!
