About to install Akra Evo exhaust - questions
So I'm installing an Akrapovic Evolution system on Tuesday. I've done a fair bit of research and looked through a few sites, read some articles etc. My specific questions are not really answered anywhere though, so hopefully some of you can help:
1. I currently have the Eisenmann Sport. I know the Akra system will be louder, but does anyone have any direct experience with these two systems as a comparison? 2. I've ordered the Delete-R module. I know this will prevent the CEL from being thrown, but apart from that, is it recommended to retune the car? If I do not do a tune, what is the likelihood of any damage being done to the engine in the long term? 3. How will fuel economy be affected? TIA |

when you are spending that much money on an exhaust system do yourself a favor and get the tune because its not that much more than the delete-r. you'll thank yourself for it later and on the long term it doesn't do anything to your engine. regarding mpg there have been mixed answers but alot have said they get somewhat better mileage

I agree with what rjd598 said. GET A TUNE like ESS or EVOLVE instead of the Delete-R. You can get some real gains from the tune with an Akra.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I went with the full Akrapovic with the delete R and have had no problems. This mod will not harm your motor in any way. The Delete-R cost me $300, and the ESS tune is $1400...so the costs are not nearly the same.
That being said, I do plan on a tune in the future in order to maximize the potential of the Akrapovic exhaust.

Our tune for the Akra system is exactly the same price as our normal tune, currently $999 and includes the removal of the CEL so you would not need the delete-R.
Here is a dyno from our in-house dyno dynamics of our Akra tune: We also have a special on for our tune plus the Akra evo system which is $300 off the RRP of both together: http://www.evolvetuning.us/bmw/3-ser...e-package.html |

Looking forward to it
To the OP: The lack of tune won't necessarily cause any issues whatsoever with regards to longevity, but I think most would agree it would be a crying shame not to take full advantage of the added flow supplied by such a system with a tune. |

ill do the tune in about 30k miles, AFTER warranty is over...too much of a risk at this point..i like the look and sound so the delete r will suffice for now
