2009 M3 Coupe Best Pricing Thread Reference

Whats up guys...I started this thread for the newer people like myself. Hopefully the veteran guys can help out. I have been doing a lot of research on pricing and still unclear on whats the best price I can get on the following specs. I see threads on Euro Delivery, Rebates, and Invoice +1. Is there a resource or good contacts that can order me the below and get me a good price. What do you guys think I should pay for this? I have seen newer guys asking the same questions, but no real clear straight answers....all jokes aside...how do we get the best price possible??

Rear-wheel drive

Base MSRP $57,850
Jet Black $0
Black Novillo Leather $950

For a new ('09 as of this writing) ordered car:

1) Go to Edmunds or use the sticky above and calculate the INVOICE price of the car.
2) Call/email several dealerships within reasonable driving distance, tell them upfront that you're shopping for the best deal -- include the list of options you want along with the invoice price so they're aware that you've educated yourself.
3) Some dealers are cooperative, some are not. Negotiate with the one that seems to be most cooperative. Reasonable target seems to be ~$500 over invoice on an ordered car... mine was $750 over invoice with M3 mats thrown in, but I've read of others with more persistence doing better.
4) At some point you need to find your personal balance between level of effort and number of Benjamins saved.
5) If you can't find a cooperative dealership in your area that will agree to this, broaden your search to 100-mile radius of dealerships -- it doesn't take much effort for them to order a car for you, and you'll only need to make 2 trips to the dealership to order and then pickup your car. You don't have to have the car maintained at the dealership you bought it from...

For 'on the lot' cars, I'll have to defer to others' experiences...

Snowgator has it right. There is no real straight answer, every dealership is going to be different, and even the same dealership may give a different answer on different days! Just because I got a car for X doesn't mean you can go into any dealership and say "This guy on the internet paid X, sell me your car for X..."

Start at invoice and see how close you can get.

okay, this does help...b/c it gives me a base line to go off. I will test these out and report back on here to let everybody know how it went. This way other guys trying to do the same can be better educated. if anybody has more ideas on how to beat the system to get better deals, please add. Cant wait to order....thanks,

KBB and Edmunds have disclaimers (the very fine print) about how they don't figure in these fees. It is frustrating for you as a consumer and me as a sales professional to overcome that one because... who believes the salesperson? On these websites in the fine print the disclaimer reads something along the lines of not having the ability to keep track of every brand's advertising (called MACO in BMW's case)/ training fees associated with the invoice.

Before BMW changed to the current pricing for my region (180 training/ 100 MACO) KBB and Edmunds were usually off by $400. So the dealer having to overcome the "stealer" perception already, has to inform the customer that the homework they did about pricing is incorrect. The majority understand there may be errors with information that doesn't come directly from the source. Quite a few, with good reason, question the fees. The main objection I used to get was 1) "That's a dealer add on, I'm not paying it", or the more direct 2) "I'm not paying it." Then that famous scene from Larry David's, Curb Your Enthusiasm, when Larry thought he caught someone in a lie (the stare down) would play out in my office, but the length of time wasn't edited for TV.

I'm happy to answer any other questions you have. I hope this cleared up any lingering doubt you may have experienced at the dealership. Remember that the fees do not apply to European Delivery orders. Cheers.

So what pricing can you do for me? The dealer is giving me 9k (trade-in) on a 2003 325i auto/sedan/tit. metallic in mint condition w/ 95k miles and the negotiated price of the 09 M3 w/ above build specs is $63,500.00. Is this a deal or should I be negotiating for more. I feel like I should be getting a lower price. Anybody know?
