Break-In Pic | Odometer
So it was time for my break-in service last week. I couldnt' have timed it more perfectly. I got off the exit where the dealership is and the odometer flicked 1,200 miles. When I parked the car I took this picture with 1,201 miles. I also noted the trip odometer and let the service manager know how many miles were on the car and that under no circumstance was any tech to drive the car off the lot. They were true to their word and did a great job with the service.

Clean the dust off your cluster!
Looking at that photo makes me want to reach through my monitor with a damp cloth.

I know! My car is almost always immaculate, and for some reason with the sun shining through it amplified the dust. Shame. It's also winter season for us here and I haven't been able to do the full detail like I would love to due to snow.

Kind of off topic but in relation to your post: Have you heard lots of bad stories about techs driving peoples cars and screwing them up? Also, I ordered my car through military sales and its getting delivered to and prepped by a deaer stateside. Any ideas on how to prevent someone beating on it even if its just for a mile?
I had a bad expereience one time too: When I was buying my first m3 a few years back, the salesman showed me a brand new m3 that was totalled by some guy who was driving by and jumped a curb and smashed it. A month later when I picked up my car it was sitting on the lot and being sold as new!!! The salesman even told me it was the same car.... What do you think?> |

I'm not too worried because the M is pretty bullet proof but you just never know. I also wanted to be the first person to take it to redline too. My dealer also mentioned they won't even let people test drive any M series vehicle to avoid the situations you mentioned. Most people are idiots when it comes to cars. |
