weird vibrating steering wheel issue AFTER getting new front brakes at BMW yesterday
So I just got my final free service before the warranty ends (today)...which included an oil change and replacing the front rotors/pads. I noticed this morning on the drive to work that the steering wheel shimmies from about 75-90 mph (i didnt try going above 90)....It doesn't shimmy when applying the brakes, just normal straightline driving. I had this issue about a year ago and BMW rebalanced my front wheels and it fixed it entirely. What about new rotors/pads would cause this shimmying, or could it be they accidently knocked off a wheel weight when they removed the wheels yesterday? Also, of note, my tread on the front tires is very low...I'm going to have to replace these tires within the next 2-3 months anyways...

I agree with OP's theory, most likely one of the techs just knocked a wheel weight or two off during the service. I'd take the car back and have them rebalance the front wheels arguing it should be done at no charge since they are responsible.

Ditto. Just have them re-balanced if you don't need new. The wife was having the exact same issue and did get new tires and done.
