Let's Take a Brake....F8X Carbon Ceramics fitted to E9X?

There's a variety of options for us to upgrade our brakes. There's the usual culprits such as Brembo, Stoptech, AP Racing etc that offer kits specifically designed for our cars. Some alternatives to these are the lesser known but ambitious projects by slonik and akmotorsports. Recently there had been a bit of a discussion around the F8X steel F/R system being retrofitted to our cars.

So I pose the question about CCB system from the F8X platform. Is this a viable option? More headache than it's worth?

Discuss!

i cant imagine sourcing a set of F8X CCBs would be much, if at all, cheaper than buying CCBs that are made to fit an E9X. its not like the steel brakes where people yank them off for a BBK and sell them second hand.

I was thinking more along the lines of an opportunity came along to purchase these off a salvage.

Seems like there's been a bit of previous discussion here on this, still limited.

This is definitely a viable option—there are actually a few recently converted cars locally to us. I like it for the whole "OEM Plus" feel, but like others have said, it comes with a price (think similar to a Brembo GTR setup). As far as headache is concerned, this retrofit is virtually "0" given our custom bracket solution. The rest bolts on as normal. Nevertheless, and regardless of cost, our mission has always been to offer enthusiasts as many high quality options as possible and this is certainly one of them!

Please feel free to shoot me a PM—I can definitely help answer any particular questions you may have about this or any BBK kit you're considering!

The first question you need to ask yourself is, "Why do I want to make this modification?"

What exactly about your current brake setup don't you like?

Are you trying to increase your system's heat capacity? Are you looking for an aesthetic improvement? Would you like more pad options? Are you tired of brake dust? Will you only be driving on the street, or will you track your car?

Will they physically bolt to the car vs. will they accomplish your goals are two very different questions.

^ That's what we need. F80 steel brakes would be a great solution. I believe the rears are PnP but the fronts need a bracket or have a different offset.
