Don't know if they would do that, but a good aftermarket paint job is about $8,000!!

You'll need to speak with your dealer about the BMW Individual program. To my knowledge, it shouldn't me much trouble to get that done.

Price

Yes, Until last year it was $3,000.
Probably might seem more worth it if you got a more unusual color like laguna Seca Blue or Moonstone. Both are availavble. Few dealers will even go through the special order request process. Most people that inquire don't go through with the deal and there is a nprocess involved. Add that to U.S. consumer protection laws generally precluding non refundable deposits and overall it's not worth their effort. For example. How many buyers would pay the extra 5K for Sapphire when Jerez and Jet black are available for $550 and $0.

Yep - depends on colour but use $5k and you're in the right ballpark. Such is life!

Also, there is a limited number of m3s that bmw will allow to be custom painted. It's not like you can walk in with the cash and as long as you have it they'll do it. Doesn't work like that. As for price, $5,000 is what I know. Don't go into that much hassle to paint it sapphire black. If you want to do it, I say go for a unique color.

I have had individual colours before and I did think the price was to bad. Take it to a panel shop and see what it costs, also for BMW to spray your car they have to clean the booth equipment afterwards as they are not spraying cars that colour all day long, yours might be the only one for the day in that colour.

I think its quite reasonable.

those quotes above seem expensive for any color IMHO, but I do not have that much knowledge regarding paint job price tags.

yikes

Melbourne Red is ok, metalic and easy to maintain, has that touch of gold fleck in it.

That is expensive for a paint job. Audi charges $2500 for their custom paint on the S5's and I do believe they have a better paint quality than BMW.

No - they really don't. Not in my experience.
