options: m drive / edc yes or no
if i order my car without m drive or edc what is the "stock" handling setting?
i don't need or want nav, don't need or want comfort access, so what would i be missing by passing on the technology package? also, any idea on pricing for m double clutch? |

- No mDrive means no second steering assist setting or sport DTC setting (semi-off). - No iDrive means Enhanced Premium Sound is not available - Non EDC suspension means you lose the two active damping settings. Stock setting should be between comfort and sport, though there have not been any road tests with this setup yet. - M-DTC is $2,700 in US Don't ask any more questions until you read this: http://www.m3post.com/goodiesforyou/the_new_bmw_m3.doc

It is clear from reading the proper literature on this site that disabling DSC isn't dependent on Mdrive. The two really have nothing to do with each other. Mdrive is a programmed macro only.

Yes, you can turn it off, just not put it into sport mode which leaves a bit of a safety net.

Any info as to whether or not Mdrive will be available as a retrofit-either at VPC or dealer? If so, would it be a software or hardware issue, or both? Thanks.

VERY unlikely and if so VERY expensive. plus if yo udo not get NAV you get the single hump dash - so to add i-drive you need a new dash. $$$$$$

Well, I've got one coming in March that does have I-drive, Nav and EDC. So without Mdrive I'll be missing the steering maps, M-DCT, and one of the engine settings (M sport +?) It seems like all it might require would be software, or perhaps a computer board (and a button.) It may end up being too much trouble, hawever. Thanks.

it seems like it would be cheaper to get the tech package and you'd have all of the above at a lower cost than optioning this individually, plus, you'd have mdrive

Now i know everyone is automaticly assuming that the Non-EDC cars will have the setting between Comfort and Sport. But has this been confirmed? Is that what BMW says? I would think that Non EDC cars would come standard with the stiffest setting for the enthusiast. And for the people who want comfort there is the EDC.

I dont think NON-EDC cars will have a button. just one suspension setting. no one seems to know what that will be - best guess is its sport setting since sport is not "active".
