What's your tire pressure
I got the 19s with PS2s 265/35/zr19 rear and 245/25/zr19 front filled up to 33 psi front and 35 psi rear. I recently just took a trip out to vegas with 4 people in the ride including myself. That was when I decided that i should fill up to 41 psi front and 44 psi rear due to the extra loading. This 41/44 setting is called out in the user manual. After increasing the psi the ride felt smoother and seemed to absorb the shocks better. Now, that I am back home from the trip and driving by myself, the ride still feels more comfortable at EDC normal mode.
1. Should I keep this 41/44 psi setting? 2. Will it cause an increase/decrease in mpg? 3. What psi do you guys set your tires to? 4. Does different psi setting give different handling characteristics? Last edited by M3Rolly; 06-02-2009 at 11:43 PM.. |

i think 39/44 is the recomendation for any driving over 100mph and thats where i set mine all the time. never know when you might get into triple digits.

On Euro cars the TPWS works by checking the rotational speeds of the tyres (using the ABS wheel speed sensors) against the base setting stored when the system was last initialised. When a tyre starts to lose pressure its speed increases relative to its fully inflated speed and this triggers the TPWS. As little as a couple of PSi drop will give a warning.

tire pressure is cold pressure that i was refering to. the only place it isnt set that way is the track.

Guys, do you know if you have fatter tires would that change your recommended PSI levels?
Also, how long does it take for tire pressures to "cool down?"

I run 35/35 all the time, but am almost always by myself, or a passenger at most (and both light ). The manual refers to a full load, so if that's the case, I'd follow that, but I'd only increase mine if I was going to drive flat out for a while, which won't be the case.
On all my previous cars the TPMS went off between 29 and 30. Haven't tested the M3 yet, but I predict the same, since recommended pressure is 33. Any more and TMPS would be going off all the time in winter. Finally, the 'flat detection' system mentioned above is to catch a flat before TPMS (they're separate), like when you have the tires inflated in the 40s, I guess. |

I run 36/35...the fronts do benefit from extra psi, it stiffens the tyre to give a sharper turn in. The problem with too much extra pressure is that the centres of the tyres will wear quicker than the outsides.

I'm running my Nitto INVO's at a higher pressure. 38 front, 42 rear. They have really weak sidewalls so I read that upping the pressure helps. Hopefully I won't have to do this for the AD08's.

33/35 is the most comfortable
i usualy use 35/37 on my OEM 18s nicer turn in and not too hard |

Just put air in yesterday. I'm running 19"s OEM PS2s
I believe manual stated 35/38. I inflated to 38/40.

I had about 24-26 psi on all 4 tires and didn't trigger TPMS warning. I was shocked that it didn't trigger. So I'm assuming that low 20 psi will (I hope) trigger warning.
