Nice try (kris.taylor.1981)
Just a quick note to warn people of doing any trades with this person.
I posted a looking to buy listing for some ACS wheels recently and was contacted by this person. The red flag was then when i asked him to provide pictures of the actual wheels he sent pictures from this listing which is not his and would only accept bank transfer so i played him along a little to get his hopes up. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=582099 Here seems to be another person he has tried this with before http://modernvespa.com/forum/topic109133 Below is just how my conversation went with him for those interested otherwise no need to read. WTB AC Schnitzer v Forged 20" Looking to buy the above alloys with or without tires. If you are looking to sell some then please email me at xxxxxxxxxxxxx To see messages related to this one, group messages by conversation. Jude Tobi (judetobi888@gmail.com)Add to contacts 10/07/2013 -- Kindly let me know if you still need one as requested, I have it for sale. Let me know and I'll get back to you. Why don't you just call him out on the pictures and ask for new images?
If he can't provide them he's obviously lying. I have bought things before from people who were too lazy to go take their own images and instead sent someone elses images from an old post. Not saying that's what going on here.. but its still kind of unresolved. My only real indication that he's full of shit is how he dropped his price so quickly. You definitely strung him along though! |

Most people would also have paypal and would not only send something of this value with half payment first and would rather deal locally. He also said the wheels were new and never used and that was until i pointed out the marks on the wheels that indicated they were used and at this point he says they were on the car for 2 months. paypal is a smart way to go to prevent fraud. The seller has to prove that he shipped with signature confirmation. If shipment fails, and fraud is suspected, Paypal will go after the seller's account for money, often making a direct withdraw.
Just be careful as the scam GOES BOTH WAYS! Often the seller is scammed with this process as well. The buyer refuses to take delivery with signature confirmation. So seller ships product otherwise, the product is delivered but the buyer makes a claim of fraud/no receipt. The seller can't prove shipping as he doesn't have signature confirmation. Paypal takes money out of seller account, buyer now has product AND a refund. |

I played along with a Nigerian scammer (posing as UK buyer) about 8 years ago with me selling a $4k mountain bike. The deal was that he would overpay me but I would wire some money back to him or some stupid shit like that but I would still get $2k more than my asking. It went as far as he sent a me a $14k cashier's check (fake) "from" a real Connecticut bank via FedEx worldwide... from Nigeria.
I thought it was hilarious that he must have spent about $100 to send this thing from Africa to WA. Two days later I get a translator phone call at 3am and via a telephone translator (just doing her job) he begs me for the money and eventually says he'll fk'ing kill me and my family if I don't send it. It was pretty funny and the translator was trying not to laugh. I wasn't worried, but yeah I called Secret Service at that point. Of course there's not much to do. I can't believe people fall for this stuff. |

He must have been spending the money in his head thinking he had scammed 1100 euro out of you. Probably bought food and medicine for his whole village.

If you think you've conquered new grounds in frustrating back scammers just know you only just barely escaped his initial spin at you. If you want to see some real professionals bagging scammers back at their games. Some guys do that as a hobby and you would not imagine how far they can reverse play them. Examples.. One guy got his scammer to sculpt him a wood statue from a picture and ship it to him for free accross two continents. Then also had HIM sent money, etc.. took him for an amazing ride. Scammer was blinded by his greed.. eventually felt much humbled.

These situation happen closer to home sometimes.
I just bought a 2000$ gts v lip and the seller posts pictures that weren't his. I received a lip that was damaged and repaired with a spray can. Even thought his pictures show a new lip in box. Then he tells me EAS shipped it to him this way. I open a paypal dispute to initiate a refund and he escalates it to a dispute to in his words ''protect himself''. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=857498

I would stay away from international transactions. If the deal is too good to be true. It usually is risky
