Got really bored last night..

I took a vacation but then realized I had no friends so I went to modding my car. Typically boredom mods aren't so great but I am pretty happy about the outcome. I painted the exhaust tips as well the side gills in a gloss black. I also smoked the side markers. The exhaust tips are holding up really well, no cracking or peeling. If anyone is wondering I used high temp engine enamel.

That's funny. Typical M3 owner

Looks good though. I wouldn't have taken the bumper off though... might have been easier to remove the exhaust... then you could have also done the Stock Exhaust mod.

That's because all your friends are on here lol

They look good, did you do the canister as well? What did you use to smoke the side markers? Some type of film? I ordered the AutoTechnik LED strips to replace the ones in mine but want to black darken them up to match...

No I only painted the tips. I used this stuff called VHT nightshades for the side markers, people typically use it to black out their taillights. You can get it at any auto parts store for $12-14 (I bought mine from advance auto parts). Basically you would take the lights out of the side gill encasement, tape up whatever area you don't want to paint, and then spray on one or two coats of VHT. No more than two coats though because that stuff is really dark. If you want it to be reversable use a film because VHT is pretty permanent.

Good luck!

Also when you're spraying on the VHT Nightshades remember to do a sweeping left to right-right to left motion. This way you'll get a smooth finish. And it takes a little long to dry too so what I did was tie a string around the electrical connector behind the light and hung it off the side of my desk to dry for 2-3 hours.

How much work is it to take off the bumper? I think I am going to do this in a flat black.

Took about an hour if you don't know what you're doing. PM me if you have any questions.
