Rattle near instrument cluster/navigation screen

Hey everyone,

I know this has been covered before, but would like to discuss this issue again. Getting an annoying rattle that's coming from the instrument cluster and navigation screen. Both are giving off the same sound. Noticed if I use my hand and squeeze the cluster it seems to go away. Would felt and velcro underneath the cluster resolve this issue? Anyone with experience?

Car is going to out of warranty in 2-3 months and 200 miles left, so would dealer even be willing to resolve this type of minor issue?

Depends on the dealer. McKenna spent a ton of time hunting down a rattle in my car. Sterling's shop forman spent some time helping me with one but told me BMW would not reimburse them for rattle repair (which doesnt seem correct).

Yours seem pretty straight forward. First step would be to remove the navigation screen or cluster and see if it goes away. If so, line with felt and reinstall.

I have a similar noise that seems like it's coming from behind the navi screen near the dash speaker..

Thanks. Gonna try that out before anything else.

What's up bro? I've read about using felt and velcro to line it and it has resolved the rattles for many people. Do you get it mainly when you drive on small bumpy road?

Crevier also resolved a nagging rattle in the driver side A piller for me just before warranty expired. They took out a bunch of pieces to isolate the rattle, changed out a servo, and had to recode the car. Covered under warranty and no more rattle!

Try your dealer. Who knows... they may fix it right. Btw, Crevier tried to lube up the door liners twice before taking stuff apart. In the end it got fixed so I'm happy.

Its a super small plastic-on-plastic sounding rattle when going over small bumps in the road. Definitely sounds like it's in the dash near that speaker

Super easy. Remove and felt the spots behind the cluster that sit on other plastic pieces. Easy to see once removed.
