Window Tinting in SF Bay Area
Hey Guys,
I've narrowed it down to 4 shops. Omega Tintwerks -3723 Old Santa Rita Road #16 -Pleasanton, CA 94588 -925.227.1322 Premier Protective Films Intl (tint, clear bra) -42630 Christy St, -Fremont, CA 94538 -510.623.1308 Rocky Mountain Window Tint (tint only) -4749 Bennett Drive # M -Livermore, CA 94551 -925.373.2577 Auto Mall Tint Specialist (tint only) -43048 Christy Street -Fremont, CA 94538-3165 -510.659.8468 OW & RMWT uses F1 Pinnacle and price is close, Premier uses some Nano Ceramic Film and is higher by $175. AMTS uses Huper Optik and is the most expensive and is $240 higher then OW & RMWT. I tried to post something in the Nor Cal Section but it's not very active there. Would like your experiences with any of them. Thank you.

I would go with omega or rocky mountain. I've heard great reviews from fellow members here about them. Even though they might be a little more than other shops I would go for quality over cheap stuff. Lesson learned from me

Not bad mouthing Premier, but I got my tint done from them on 2008 when they carried Madico Ceramic. After 3 years, my rear window now looks like sh*t due what appears to be sun damage. When I mentioned it to Premier and asked for Sam or Wilson to comment, someone I didn't know replied and asked me to take it up with Madico because they don't carry the film anymore. For the sheer amount of new business I've brought to Premier (5+ cars and new customers when they were still working out of their Prius, and support during their first few shop open houses), I was really surprised to see the response. I'm not expecting any freebees, but honestly that type of response is bullshit to me. I was also surprised to see no response from Sam or Wilson. Every bit of communication comes from hired front desk guys that have been told what to do/say.
To their credit, they did ask me to send in some pictures that I've been lagging on sending in. Maybe they were planning to help me out, who knows..

I went with Matt @ Rocky Mountain. I did 5% rear and back and 35% on the driver & passenger side. When I first saw it, I said, "I'm so going to bet pulled over for this!". Car is AW with Black Novillo interior so it's going to look super dark to begin with. I'll take some pictures later once the sky clears up. It's been gloomy since I picked up the car.

I found this guy, Canlas Window Tinting, from yelp a couple of months ago. I had him work on 3 cars. All look great. He came to my garage and charged me $200 for E93.

I've taken two cars to Vince at Omega and have had no problems whatsoever. It also helps that his work has lifetime gaurantee, so if something happens later on you know he'll take care of you.

OP, do you mind sharing the pricing info with me? (PM me, please.) I'll be needing tint/bra for my new E92 in a couple of weeks. Are you getting partial or full clear bra?
I had my Honda Fit's windows tinted at Omega 3 years ago. The car had a new body design at the time and naturally Vince had never worked on it before. I'm very happy with the workmanship, and the tint has held up just fine so far. Nice guy, and definitely recommended. |

In case anyone else would like prices, please contact Matt at Rocky Mountain directly. He'll give you a fair price on the Formula 1 ceramic tinting.

+1 for Vince at Omega. Although I haven't seen his tinting, he's done clear bra for my truck and turned out pretty good. He really stands by his work and will correct any problems that come up a couple months down the road.
AMTS also does good work, I've taken a couple cars there to have my windows tinted. |
