I hear these sounds every morning in my E46 ZCP M3. After the tranny warms up the sounds and the roughness goes away. You do freak out the first time you hear it, however.
the grind noise is once in awhile on a cold start, but if your talking about the clunk noise i hear it when its cold or warm and its most of the time not just once here and there
