Why did BMW offer 359M wheels if they used the same size tires as the 220M??

If my research is correct, I have the same size tires on my ZCP 2011 M3 as anyone else with the 19" 220M wheels even though my wheels are .5" wider. What was the point of offering wider wheels if the tires are the same?? I've got 245/35/19 in the front and 265/35/19 in the back.

Watchout there boy......I hear whatcha talking over dere booy.......BMW wanted to save coins on there end but give you the option to upsize later. Works out well since they know PS2's won't last long.......I moved into a 295 rear and haven't looked back...........Phil

HAHA!! Phil, I've been doin this since BMW engineers were in trainin' bras--and by the looks of things, they still got some trainin' to do!

Thanks for the reply man, that's what I figured. Curious, I'd like to move to 285 or 295's as well. Will 295's sit flush with my fenders if I have stock suspension? What's your setup if you dont mind me askin?

Your setup is exactly what I intend to do. I want meaty tires, with no spacers, but still flush with the fenders. Excellent work.
