I honestly could barely hear the exhaust on OEM while driving. With the Akra, it's definitely louder and you can hear the blips on heel/toe much better. However as I stated, it's still pretty muted in the cabin. Sounds similar to stock 911.

I took the wife for a drive and she didn't even notice I put on a new exhaust! The first time I took her for a drive in the Ferrari, she looked over and said, "You know, this noise level is highly illegal."

Ideally, I was looking for something in between an Akrapovic and a Ferrari. Loud, but not crazy loud. Oh well, changing the exhaust is not an option at this point given the money for parts/labor, so I think I'll just see how it goes over the next 6 months. If I'm still wanting more sound, I think I'll go full Evolution and tune.
$400 for turner test pipes and a $1000 evolve tune will get you where you want for a lot less than the Evolution midpipes

OP, if you decide you don't want the Akra slip-on, let me know, I'll make you an offer for it.

Seems like theres tons of people disappointed with the Akra and M-Performance exhausts and it shows in the for sale section of this forum. Both seem way too quiet. I love my Eisenmann Race and even am considering a new Xpipe to make it louder.

The slips ons are very quiet. The Eisenmann race I had was ear splittingly loud and droned like crazy with a stock x pipe. It's not for me.

The M Performance exhaust makes nice noises... outside the car. But, it gets nasty raspy with any cat delete, and it still hangs down like a Orangutan's swollen gonads.

Funny how you mention it dying after 4000 RPM... I had the same issue when I just had the cat-back and it drove me nuts.

Like everyone said, if you wait a while you'll find some decent x-pipes without paying too much (mine were crazy cheap!)

Does anyone know of a x-pipe with HFC's that won't throw a CEL?

Ideally, I would love a system where I didn't have to tune and worry about emissions.

If you want a loud exhaust, and don't mind it drone below 3K RPM, try catless X-pipe pair with AA exhaust. I had this step for a year now, and enjoy it every day.

+1 on Gintani Race I have it with a AA X-pipe catless

I put on some aftermarket wheels- D2 Forged. The company saw my amateur pics on FChat and asked me to do a photoshoot. Pics were taken at Newcastle Beach Park. If you're in Bellevue, you might have seen me driving around

The pics came out pretty well http://www.d2forged.com/gallery/ferr...oblock-wheels/

So after 300 miles, I have to say that the Akra is sounding better.

I don't know if it's louder, but definitely deeper and more growl. Of all the exhausts I've installed in the past, I've never heard a exhaust change so much.

Probably will still go for the Evolution, but pretty happy with the Akra's change thus far.

After trying over 5 exhausts I finally found a winner. Akra evo. Perfect balance of deep and exotic sound.

I realize this is an old thread, but:

How does Akra Evo compare to Akra Slip-On with test pipes?

Will the latter be quieter and less bassy at low RPMs?

Interested in knowing this as well. Is anyone running this setup (akra & test pipe)?

I am. Pretty bassy on cold start and at low RPM

My guess is that it sounds similar to the Akra Evo, but I have not done a side by side comparison.
