DSG is Audi/VW's name for their sequential shifter. However, Audi is renaming theirs to s-shift(or something like that) and VW is keeping the DSG naming on theirs. I highly doubt BMW would steal their naming. However, SMG Im sure will still be available.

Rumor has it that a dual clutch DSG type system is in the works -- in BMW parlance it is a ZSG. I would be surprised if it is not released with the M3. The timing is right.

I'd also read they'll be using a dual-clutch automatic transmission (a la DSG) on the M3 rather than the old SMG. They'll call it something different than DSG, though, I'm sure.
EDIT: Damn stressdoc beat me to it.

Seeing how they charge 2k for the auto over manual, I'm sure the SMG will not be cheap.
