"Fifth Gear" Review

There are few drivers' cars - at any price - as complete as this one. This M3 is almost supercar fast, seats four and provides a performance and handling package that provides just the right blend of excitement and maturity to make this a brilliant car to live with every day. You could argue that there could be more edge to the noise it makes, a little more nervous agility to its handling, and more drama from its looks, but that would take the edge of its satisfying usability. And those after that final animal element will probably be sated by the upcoming CSL version, which promises more raw excitement. Audi's RS4 runs this car very close, and is certainly the more capable car when the conditions turn slippery, but the BMW's rear-drive handling is ultimately more entertaining, its seats more comfortable, its V8 sound-track less intrusive. It is not an M3 in the mould of the original, raw, race-car for the road E30 M3 from 21 years back, but it's a hell of a lot faster, and vastly more sophisticated. And just as much fun.

For some reason I always trusted Fifth Gear's Reviews more compared to Top Gear. I know both are basically entertainment, but I dunno Fifth Gear is more reliable to me.

Yeah, I was going to say, the base M3 in the UK on the road with absolutely no options starts at £50625; that's around $100000. I wonder what you could get for that much cash in America?

You could buy a used M6, a brand new fully loaded M5, X-5. A low mileage 911T (996) and the list goes on.

A fully loaded M5 here would be £72835.00; that's almost $144000.00!

I was referring to the M3 base price in the UK not in the US.
