Talk to BMW and tell them that you will install it in a shop that is not a BMW and they will tell you that the warranty for this item will be voided, when I bought the first performance exhaust it came with the tips peeling problem, I claimed the BMW dealer in California where I bought the unit and they sent my claim to the BMW dealer where I installed the unit, this dealer processed the paperwork to have the faulty unit replaced with a new one, they specifically told me that one of the requirements they needed to process the claim to BMW of NA was the proof of installation in a BMW dealer otherwise the warranty would have been voided At the end you may be right and you may be able to legally claim a replacement even if you havent installed it in a BMW dealer but how long would it take you to win such a claim, maybe months and lots of paperwork before they finally accept your claim??? I had my unit replaced in a a couple of days, big difference!

I just got it installed yesterday, and theres no way any of the videos come anywhere close to justifying the actual sound it makes. windows down and 30% throttle around 3k rpm through a tunnel sounds pretty close to a ferrari now! sick! Ive heard it gets slightly louder too after some miles

I'm thinking about switching my full RPI system for Turner test pipes (with the OEM front/mid pipes) with this Inconel exhaust. It may be a bit raspier then without TTP's, but I'm sure that it won't be as raspy as my current set-up. Of course, a full Akra is still in the back of my mind!

Love it.
Cool little "feature" of the exhaust is that it gets a little louder and even more musical (more overtones) once you really heat it up with some sustained WOT for a few minutes. It hasn't gotten much louder but there is definitely a big difference between how it sounds during normal driving and how it sounds during and after sustained high rpm/wide open running. FWIW my tips have had no issues after nearly 5,000 miles, paint is still fine. Not that I would care if it started peeling, I think they look better without

Indeed. But paying $3.5K+ extra is hard to swallow . And glad to hear an exhaust video the way you have to drive a car 90%+ of the time .
May I ask how much you sold it for, and how much was the shipping? Well, I can comment on that . I think even a stock M3 sounds better than a Ferrari OUTSIDE; and the lower the rpm, the more true that is. However, that reverses INSIDE, especially at higher rpm, but that has more to do with the engine screaming behind your ears than the exhaust note. Two different things . I sold it for $3100 shipped, I paid $42 for shipping with UPS Ground, package weighed 50 lbs

I think the BMW performance exhaust sounds great. The tips look amazing and it goes with the car very well. The only thing I don't like about it is how visible the cans are from the back, but that is a minor issue really.

I was going at it pretty hard for a little bit on the freeway today, and when I took off to a crossstreet it was noticeably more "musical" and even more hollow/exotic sounding - so much more I was wondering for a while if it suddenly free'ed up or something! really cool!! I also notice about twice as many people turn around to look when I drive down the street now, so it has to sound pretty good when driving by too I guess

I got my 2011 E93 with the performance exhaust new from the dealer in August. Sounds great on startup and at high revs, but accelerating through about 3800 to 4000 rpm, any gear, any speed produced a horrendous drone that resonated throughout the cabin, just at that narrow range of rpm. Of course during the break in period you kind of live at that range when you are driving normally. It was very noticeable to my passengers, but the service center just said it was a characteristic of the exhaust. After several complaints I drove it around with a technician and he agreed it couldn't be normal but there didn't seem to be anything wrong with the installation of the parts. Ultimately they agreed to replace the exhaust under warranty. Now it's overall a bit quieter, and while I can still make out the drone it's much shorter, quieter and more tolerable than before, but certainly still there. Apparently other cars with the performance exhaust don't do this, and my car without any exhaust didn't make the noise in testing, which I wasn't there for. Not sure if I should scrap it and go back to stock exhaust, but it's already included in my lease and they said I'll have to pay extra for the stock exhaust. I'm bummed because otherwise I love the car and I really like the sound of the system at idle and during hard accelerating.
Has anyone out there had a similar experience? |

It was the best M3 perf. exhaust video I could find on youtube, and it definitely convinced me to get one myself. Btw, that's an awesome car you got
