Chrysler 300 SRT8?
Situation: Stopped at a traffic signal on a typical farmland 4-lane rural highway where a 2-lane farm-to-market road crosses the highway. The rural highway I'm on goes from 4 lanes to 2 lanes 1/4 mile from the signal. I'm in the lane that goes away. Next to me at the red light is a black Chrysler 300 SRT8 with heavily tinted windows and a nice rumble. The road is straight maybe all the way to France.
Mission: Be ahead of the SRT8 when my lanes goes away. Execution: We both got a good launch when the light turned green. I didn't use Launch Control, but used the nail it and go technique that got me a best of 12.4 @116 at BIR. We were door handle to door handle until well into second gear! Not what I expected. Then I began to pull away at a pretty good delta as the M3's V-8 got on the pipe (2-stroke M/C race talk), but what's up with that!? Are SRT 8 limousines supposed to be that quick? That thing must weight as much as a Main Battle Tank. (Admin/Logistics: N/A) (Command & Signal: N/A) |

I would think it might be a pretty good straight line race, for a bit. Stock for stock, there's probably not a huge difference in HP. The weight would probably make the difference. But the M3's gonna carve that thing up (and probably any other SRT) in some curves. I took part in one of those SRT driving deals they have. The most agile one I got to drive was the Challenger. They're pretty powerful, but not very nimble. In that event, we were running the 300s, Challengers and Chargers. It was fun, cause I got to thrash somebody else's car, but all day long I was just wishing I was back in my M3!
I don't know why in the hell anybody would ever buy an SRT 300... Last edited by ///WeissBisBlau; 05-08-2015 at 11:23 PM.. |

Like was said before they are pretty quick in a straight line. Once you start throwing all that weight around it's a different story. It's fun messing with them in my Mustang. They get mad when they can't shake me.

Those SRT's are powerful! I once had a go with a Challenger, and we were pretty neck & neck. But then came the twisty's, and it was over from the first corner!
I looked at my rear view, and it couldn't stay in lane. After that? I will never do that again. SRT drivers can cause a accident trying to keep up with my E90 M3 |

I'm pretty sure this SRT will chew up and spit out any ///M in the twisty stuff. Yes, it's all factory stock goodness. 2016 Viper ACR. That 6ft wide wing makes 2,000lbs of downforce. |

Im assuming it was one of these?
470 HP and 470 Lb ft with a 4.3 0-60 is no joke But it is a heavy four door with a clunky 5 speed auto |

This is her on the Hockenheimring. I did 2:25's with Michelin Pilot A/S+ tires. LOL Only upgrades performance wise are HP+ pads for the Brembo's and ATE Super Blue fluid, short shifter, weighted knob. I'm selling her to a German friend of mine within the next couple of weeks and then saving for a Bimmer of some sort when I get back to SC this summer after I retire. I just couldn't take the Honda Civic of Euros to the homeland. 2010 Merc C300 6MT.

If you can swing it, use the European Delivery for your new bimmer. There's nothing in the states quite like burning down the A6 Autobahn at redline in 7th gear. I lived in Europe for 14 years, nearly 13 of it in Germany. I only miss it every day. There wasn't a day that I drove that I didn't hit at least 160 kph and normal Autobahn cruising speed was 200 kph. I drove Porsches the entire time I lived in Germany and my PCA club would have competitive driving and safe driving courses at the Hockenheimring. Living in Heidelberg, it was only a short drive to do track days at the Nordschleife. Last edited by GVIFlyer; 05-11-2015 at 12:42 AM.. |

I owned a 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT (6.1l). It was an awesome car. Because I purchased the car, I was able to track a Chrysler 300 at Las Vegas speedway at an SRT event.
The Chrysler 300 was my favorite car there (yes, even more so than the 392 Challenger). It was super comfortable, and a blast to drive on the track. The interior quality is very nice. The older (6.1L) 300's are well loved in the drag scene because you can fit obscene tires in the rear, and they hold up well to a lot of abuse. |

The 2012+ SRT 300s are awesome. I demo'd a one for a few days. Very powerful with a red leather/suede interior very similar quality to the interior of my M3 Last edited by BloomRunsDubs; 05-10-2015 at 11:52 PM.. |

The dodge/Chrysler/Jeep cars are simply amazing right now. Hands down the cars to buy at the moment. Even the 2015 mustangs are good and I'm eating crow right now making fun of my buddies GT calling it a shitstang then I dive it and ended up liking it.

Similar story from yesterday. Pulled up next to a very beastly sounding SRT8 Cherokee. I normally don't do anything like this, but the guy was like "wanna play?"
He immediately put so many car lengths on me. Got to the next light when he told me he was running a TT 426 Hemi. Jesus. Looked it up online, and here he is: [u2b]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClZ2FSNb5UA[/u2b] I guess I don't know how to insert video

I have thoroughly enjoyed blasting down the Autobahn here. I'm leaving in august and have a much different outlook on driving after living here. I don't know how I'm going to cope. So I don't jack the thread too much, I'm curious as to how long it's going to take to wreck that new ACR. It's a beast for sure. The SRT guys around here don't usually play because they know they can't hang in the curves and curves are everywhere. By play I mean drive the normal speed limits here in Europe. The way the locals fearlessly pass you on blind curves will never cease to amaze me.

The 300 is actually built on a MB E-Class unibody and subframe.
