iPhone 4?

With today's announcement of the iPhone 4 from Apple, i'm curious how long it will take BMW to update their snap-in adapters. It would seem that it is just a plastics issue and the connector, from what i can tell, is the same.

Thoughts?

Comments?

With all the new talk of Y-Cables, wonder if any change there will be necessary too?

Unfortunately it might be more than just a cable. We'll see...

As far as the BMW interface is concerned, I doubt there will be any problems. I don't think the Contacts, iPod, or Phone apps etc. have changed significantly enough to cause a problem. And I don't think the iPhone cable connector has changed either.

I'll definitely know in about 2 1/2 weeks...

We should be fine, the new OS4 and iDrive is what I would be concerned about. Shouldn't be a problem though.

I think it will work ok. I tried the iOS4 beta 1 on my 3gs, and mostly no issues. One problem, when I would pick a song to play, it would list the song I chose, but would play some other song. I didn't try a later beta, but I bet this is just a software bug.

Same 30 pin connector, bluetooth, etc...I can't wait to get one though.

I thought about modifying my plastic dock with a dremel. It would mess it up, but I am worried too how long it is going to take for them to release an updated dock.

Any updates on iOS4 and new iDrive?

Hi all,

I am posting in this existing thread rather than creating a new one since its a related topic.

With the iOS4 release for the iPhone 3GS, has anyone upgraded and tried it with either version of iDrive as well as Smartphone Integration?

Any glitches that have surfaced? Any better performance?

Thanks, I plan on upgrading my phone tonight and will report back with my findings as well.

Hi all,

I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS4 last night and had all day to test it in the car.

I am happy to report no issues. Everything works as normal with regard to blutooth connectivity, phone book, call clarity, and charging with both the cable and in the iPhone cradle.

Has anyone tried an actual iPhone 4 on their OEM interface? does it work OK? I guess I'll find out for myself tomorrow.

Does the 4G fit in the cradle for the the 3G? If so, I will upgrade from my first gen 3G.

I don't have cradle but bluetooth and contact function works just fine with iPhone 4.
I tested it last night. But iPhone 4 has significantly lower reception bars than my old iPhone 3G...

Mine has this issue (though I rarely hold it in the car.)

It looks like it will work with a little modification. I will put together a DIY once I get my phone if anybody is interested.
