Well... Not just jet!

I suppose I should start with saying Hello since I just registred here. Allthough I've been thoroughly been somewhat investigating this forum and all it's post since the middle of September when I placed my order. This is most certainly a good forum and I'm here to give back some crumbs to the community!

Today I received a mail from my dealer asking "How would you feel about getting your new car on wendsday?". What a silly question? He told me that today he received my car and it will take aproximitly one week to get it ready, it really kills me to know that my dear car is only a 20 minute drive away from me, still I have to wait until 5th of December.

Oh well, since from my 2 months of "investigation" I'm well aware that you are all interested in pictures and specifications, and I will for now satisfy the specifications.

The prices are in £ since I got the whole list from BMW UK site, but I'm from Sweden.

What interesting is how you all whine about the M3 being too pricey if it goes over $68k... In USD I've payed rougly $130 730 USD and that does not include the winter tiers + rims that I've bought on the side. The base price from SEK (Swedish currency) to USD is $103 308.

Oh well, like so many others before me... A couple of sleepless nights awaits and as soon as I get it I will upload some pictures of it

Oh yeah.
Since your car is built after Sep it's a 2008 model year. So you can call it a 2008 M3 (which isn't quite common in Europe though).

And all of us over in the States know we are spoiled to have a ~$60k price tag. But like it's been said, you can't directly compare the prices with currency values since its more of a market share thing. So its all relative.

That's all relative. Your purchasing power should be higher in Sweden. When you convert Euros to Dollars for pricing the M3, things look strange, but the same applies to your salary. (I have a cousin who lives in Norway, and the man lives like a king with his engineer's salary whenever he leaves Norway). Plus, you don't pay out of your pocket for education, health care, retirement funds, and other similar things. You pay for those through taxes on the M3, a pint of beer in a pub, etc! So, we can whine all we want in the US.

I'd be concerned that you have to wait until 12/5 to get the car if it is already at the dealer. Its not like the car came unassembled : and they have to put it together. Hope the dealer isn't breaking it in and: for you.

HAHAHAHA... Actually... Since I'm only a little kid who's dying for my new toy... I'd be glad if they'd been breaking it in haha since there's still warranty and I could max it out earlier

On a more serious note: That was really an interesting notice... But what I figure is... Since I know that they probably received like 3 M3's at that day (mine included) I guess that they need to prep them all and in the order of ordering. My dealer said something like this translated

"We received it today and with the planning with the (workshop/service/maintance? The place where they repair cars, whatever ;-) ) we should be able to deliver it at 5/12.
Get back to me if it works for you!"

Now... There will also be an weekend between now and delivery... Which would add 2 days I guess, but I know that they are also open on saturdays and sundays, but that may not be true for the "car-repair/service-place".

I will most certainly check the meter for how far the car has been driven when I finally get to see it.

I'd call the dealer and lat them know that you don't want them driving your new car. When I picked up my Z4 it had almost 20 miles on it. I ordered from new so clearly someone at BMW went for a joy ride before they got it in my hands.

You definitely don;t want some sales guy red-lining the car on its first kilometer.

But anyways, I'm probably just being paranoid. best of luck and enjoy the car

Assuming its delivered via truck i would say less than 5km max.

What do others think.

My two cars before the Z had ~2 miles upon delivery.

I don't think you are being paranoid at all. We've seen many videos on Utube where M3s were getting abused in BMW dealerships.

There was some discussion around this a while back. Someone said that he delivers the sales manager a written in person, stating that his "property" should only be driven by the service manager for transport, and that it should not be revved high, or driven on public roads.

I think it is resonable to tell them that the car should not have more than 5kms on it. I don't see how the dealership can justify having more kms on it.

That's true... But those where like the first ones to come out... I know that at least my dealership has it's own M3 demo car (which I testdrove 2½ months ago...) so I can only hope that they won't get that aroused to punish my baby.
Is there like an total engine run time meter in iDrive or somewhere? Because that would actually be more interesting in regards to engine revving.

You are right. The excitement should have peaked by now, but as Gadget was saying, there are always people around looking for a joy ride.

I don't think there is any engine performance history that is displayed to the user via iDrive. I think the best you can do is to limit the kms driven, and in the process, get your message across to the sales manager. If they know you are serious about this stuff, they might treat your car differently, or they might not.
