I experienced similar when I went to install my b8s with Monroe rear shock mounts. I almost stripped the threads but stopped then pryed out the Monroe nut and inserted the bilstein supplied nut. I'm not sure if they're both metric, but off .25 or .5 millimeter in pitch or maybe they're SAE, but they're def different. I'll make sure to pay attention when I install my Ohlins soon.
