Maserati Granturismo vs. BMW M3

I have yet to drive a Maserati but the Granturismo I saw today is seriously making me reconsider buying an M3. I know it's more expensive but after hearing the exhaust of the Maserati and looking at its styling, I cannot help but add this to the M3's competition. Technically speaking they're not that far off either....

The Maserati is much sexier looking than the M3, no doubt about that. I don't know how fast it is or how it drives but doesn't it cost, like twice as much as the M3? Frankly, if it were for a DD I'd get the M3 since I wouldn't be so paranoid about putting scratches in it like I would with the Maserati.

Cheers.

I think it's as fast as the M3 but don't know how it'll compete on the track. I saw a 25 year old Japanese dude driving one next to me today and we played around a bit. My car looked a bit quicker but his exhaust note raped mine. Lol.

I would love to have it as a weekend car. Not sure about reliability as a DD

Not too many coupes out there as sexy imho than a GT S in white with the optional black wheels and carbon package.

That said, for what it costs they're not that fast and the interior is less than fantastic (lot of plastic).

But as said, they sound great.

MSRP means nothing on Maserati's you can get like $25k off sticker or more.

I've driven the GT, plain boss.

Exhaust note it one of the best, their red interior is awesome.

noise is intoxicating, but it's a big heavy GT car weighs in well above 4000lbs.

That's said, there are the S version and if you're really a heavy hitter a MC Stradale version. But what's the purpose of getting the Stradale? It's still a big GT car, not a true track machine, though if you can swallow the price, I wouldn't heistate twice to get it.

Different purposes but if you can afford it then GT must be an attractive proposition

The real question should be M6, 911 Turbo, V8 Vantage/DB9, or Maserati GT/S? The M3 doesn't compare...

For the sound and exclusivity alone the Maserati is definitely something to consider.. You may not have an M3 but you do have an X5M so why don't you stray from the ///M's a little bit and treat yourself, I know I would

That aside, the exterior makes up for it.

I took one for a test drive back home for a day. M3 is much more fun, and the interior was surprisingly cheap. In the pics you posted it doesn't look cheap, but I remember the plastics being very cheap for a car like that. From outside it is one of the sexiest cars out there, and it sounds amazing. I'd go for the M3 though based on driving pleasure alone.

Be cognizant of the maintaining costs. It's almost Ferrari to maintain.

I love the Maseratti's, and if I could afford one I would buy it. However, I did run into one on the Autobahn, and I was surprised how easily I walked it. I figured it would be quicker...but damn did that car sound good.

What are the actual maintenance costs?

There are some '08s for about $80K. About the same price as a vantage. It'd be a hard choice between those two cars if I were in the market.

Was it a dark blue 09 w/ 6k mi. ? It was sold to a guy in the east coast for his wife for $92k. Dude drives a Lambo as a DD.
