When the 04 TL was first introduced, I had a similar reaction...WTF is that? I must say that over a short period of time, it really grew on me to the point where I went out and bought myself one. Even to this day, I think it is one of the sharpest designs around.
This one though... It's like the 08 Maxima went to bed with an 09 CTS...and I don't mean in a good way. Maybe it will look better in person, at least that is what the magazines say but right now, the reaction I have when I look at the new TL and RL in pics is |

I had a 2nd and 3rd gen TL and that was pretty sexy looking.....BUT this model looks like shit. The new maximal looks like crap too.
Iguess the eyes will get use to it soon.

Yep, I like it too. And I love the addition of AWD--from my experience with Japanese cars, I do want another one (c'mon now on my '98 Nissan, $1900 to repair/maintain in 11 years, not including oil and tires). Having an AWD "other" car in the household can help keep the "x" drive off of the BMW.

It looks like it was designed by a Japanese cartoon animator.

The best part is the crease they put in the trunklid that looks like someone whacked it with a bat and dented it. Who the hell designs that into a car!!
Anyone who buys that car should go outside and shoot themselves in the face. It would be less painful then the ridicule they face for driving it.

Just like American cars and all other Jap cars, Acuras have no identity. When they redesign a car the new version never resembles the previous in any way. Their cars have ZERO design direction. The designer on this one was obviously tripping on acid while shitting on his wifes face.

True, but having to incorporate twin kidneys, the hof kink, twin headlights, etc really doesnt have to define or limit the design direction. BMW has a loyal following because their cars have an identity and design direction. "BMW" is a brand, a lifestyle, a culture, for all those reasons. "Acura" is a Jap car company that produces reliable cars. A small percentage of people will buy Acura's all of their life. People drive/own BMW's until they die. Audi and Mercedes have created a similar image/identity with their cars.
