That is one seriously smooth power and torque curve. I makes me think 'What have BMW done wrong' not getting their own one to look that good.

In fact you couldn't have asked for anything better if you had drawn it yourself.

The one thing I likr about this is that you have great gains so I can stop hearing how much better the 335 is because you cant get anymore power out of the 8 cylinder and how its maxed out BLAH BLAH BLAH. This can not be said anymore which makes me a lot HAPPIER because I dont have to hear that stupidity anymore. If anyone says that I am linking them to this post

Correct me if I'm wrong, but based on the statement above, it sounds like all of the power gain shown on the dyno is just from the reflash (i.e., the before and after runs both include the aftermarket exhaust and intake). This also seems to make sense based on the "before" torque curve. If so, that's extremely impressive for a reflash.

can you send them your ECU in the mail and have them do all the modifications such as the chipping and removing top speed and rev limiter?

I think he had the exhaust and intake done before the run as well.

BMW hasn't done anything wrong. Although the dyno charts look awesome, as he has already indicated, the fuel efficiency has gone to hell (as if it's not already there in stock form), and most likely, so have emissions. I wonder if it would pass emissions in the US? And, we don't know the effects on reliability. There are many trade-offs when you do a mod like this. I am sure BMW-M-Mexico is aware of them, and he has made his choice. (I am not saying one shouldn't do it, but just to be aware that there will be some trade-offs).

BMW needed the M3 to get decent MPGs so the car is semi-practical.
We still don't know how the economy is on the new chip. Obviously, some of the worse gas mileage comes from a heavier foot

Side note: I have sit in those Performance seats in a 120d in the BMW Museum, Munich. They are comfortable and cool as hell.

We are currently R&D'ing an E92 solution. Our M3 (E46) and M5 (E39) have made huge gains.

Judging by some of the driving testing I have done so far, the E92 will be brilliant.

This is great! I love the fact that those Ms are easily tunable. BMW will not like the flash though. I am sure there will be warrantee issues if they find out.

Way to go man. That is awesome.

I hope Dinan can show similar gains; for warranty issue.

It sounds like I might need to drive down to Mexico soon!

How much is the dealer charging you there for the seats?
Hahaha! Sure thing, I will let you know weights etc... as soon as I have this information avaliable. It appears that with the seats (say 80lbs savings), BBK, HRE's, CF boot lid, springs, exhaust and some other very small items here and there, I could save around 200 lbs in total with say around 460 bhp's, not too shabby in my book.

thanks.

you're the MOD LORD!!!

cheers
They only need the ECU for a couple of hours!!

No, you can't easily change the ECU, lots and lots of codes are particular to your car and I know of know one that has been able to successfully do it

I didn't take the time to read the whole thread, if I had then I would have knew about the ecomony and wouldn't have commented on the subject.

Though the curves for both power and torque are the smoothest I have even seen.

+ 1000, I've said this before, you can't compare a moded car to a none moded. A chipped 335 should be put against this one!!

That's a pretty broad range of vehicles/prices. I suggest you call your nearest BMW dealership and schedule a test drive of a M3!

Yep, these are totally differente vehicales also. IMO different catagories almost entirely. What are you looking (i.e., peformance, MPG, confort, family, etc...) for and maybe we can help?
