The question simply is what new toy are you thinking about?
UPDATE ... Update ... I had a change of heart, we will keep the M3 for a while
During those long winter months (you fellows down under might be thinking of cooler days ahead), anyway most of us car enthusiasts or for a better description car-nuts are thinking about what car to get next. The thread on the new Corvette tells me that quite a few of you fellows out there are looking at the next Corvette as a new toy ~shaking my head~ Not that the new Corvette is not a nice car, to compare it to a ///M3 makes no sense to me. Then there is another thread about the ///M3 or the Corvette being the poor man’s car ... all I can say to that is:- “Give me a break:” So here is the question what new toy are you thinking about? (see poll)
So why not share your secret ... what is on your mind about your next ride ... Here is my situation since it is slightly different then the poll. This being my existing toy, I plan to keep her for another year so that I can make one more cross country trip in my ///M along the stretches of route 66 I missed in 2009. I might get the new BMW Z4 LCI Facelift complete with the ///M Package (first I need to see it at the Toronto International Auto Show this sping]. However only after I take my now ///M3 once more to California and up along the coastal highway. The 2 seater will do me fine since mostly I drive my car by myself. Last but not least on my mind is this Porsche Cayenne GTS. If this is my choice then both my cars will be traded in for it and additional cash outlay would be zero to do it. If this is our final choice in the end (one or two years from now) I know this car would satisfy my wife’s as well as my needs. Time will tell if our final choice is to only own one car.

Some of the Above...
My last 15 years of car ownership have been spent with two Corvettes, a 911 GT3, a Boxster S, an M Roadster and two M3s. Those models are always on my radar for a possible "next" car, BUT the rumors of a possible Cayman GT3 in Automobile magazine have put everything on-hold until that situation is clarified.
Honestly, aside from an unobtanium Pagani Zonda F or Cinque, there is nothing else on this earth I'd rather have than an honest-to-god GT3 version of a Cayman! |

The M3 will get a new partner at some point; probably a RWD two-seater with three pedals -- e.g. Z06, 911. Turdbros need not apply.

My '13 M3 just went into production the other day. Frozen gray DCT, comp pack, matte black rims. I am so siked for my new ride! BUT what I really want as a future toy is a dedicated trackday car.
Ideal toy in my mind right now is an 1M, though prices in my opnion on second hand cars are over valued. Good size/weight, great chasis, engine has great power potential. Put a tow hook on the range rover and admire it on a trailer from the rear view mirror... maybe next year. |

I want another E46 M3. I think they are amazing cars and so much fun to drive. Mine is currently a good condition but high mileage SMG and I want to find a super clean 6MT in my favorite color combination.

my answer is actually all of the above. my m3 is my toy and here to stay but am considering a z06, gt3, or new m3 in addition.

Toyota 4runner, a new house and a new kid.
Once I get some of the house paid down... Audi R8 v10, or aston martin vantage v8. potentially new m3 if it's any good and I'm keeping my expectations low on that. |

not sure how to vote. I have kept my M3, I am the original owner of a 2008 E90, but have since added a Cayman S, NSX, and Jeep Cherokee as a winter beater.
I would only sell the M3 for an Aston Martin V8 Vantage (6 speed only) R8, or another Porsche 911 4S/Turbo.
