LG Shine and 09 M3 won't load phone book

Title explains it fairly well, my ATT LG Shine won't load the phone book into my iDrive. It shows a "downloading address book..." message but never actually loads even on really long drives (over an hour). I can receive calls just fine and if I want to make a call I just scroll through my phone and then the call goes through iDrive, just missing the phone book.

I've searched google and a 750 driver had the same problem but no solution. I've read some phones just won't load but the Shine is a relatively new phone. Any thoughts or previous experience on the matter?

Can't get my PB to load either. Other than that, the bluetooth works awesome.

i had trouble with my blackberry and the dealer had no idea, so i went through my phone book and fixed some entry names that had "mistaken spaces or weird characters" in them. and it worked,

+1, I did the same thing. I'm not sure if that was the problem though.

Thanks guys, I always put names in my phone as first and last to avoid confusion, not sure if the spaces are confusing my car's uppity german sensibilites.

Some phones don't have that capability (transferring the phonebook via Bluetooth), like my previous one. I made sure the new one did, and worked perfectly on both of my cars. And some phones are simply not compatible with the car to transfer phonebook, even if they have the feature. Hope you can get it resolved. By the way, I think the manual has a website to check phones for compatibility. Or ask your dealer. It's a good idea to do that before buying a new phone. Take care.

I have the LG Shine (crappy phone BTW) and the phone book wont load on the -drive. The dealer couldn't even figure it out. I'm trying to swith to the I-Phone when im eligible, so it's not just you, it's all LG Shines.

LG and samsung phones are notorious for not playing along with BMWs - the LG Shine would not pair with our 1-series either, but worked using the mObridge kit.

Seems the Shine is essentially blacklisted when it comes to bluetooth connectivity.
