Gawd, I miss my E38. Beauty, class, power, handling, comfort. It had it all. I don't miss the bi-monthly repair bills, though.

8 years and a repair maybe once a year at most. Still going strong too.

Mine was a repair shop queen. Always something new going on. I replaced the radiator and expansion tank twice, MAF, valley pan gasket, several vacuum hose issues, and about a dozen other things. I bet I spent $10k in the 18 months I owned it just on repairs. But when it was running right, it was in-creddddddddddd-ible.

I wish I had the cold weather heated seats/steering wheel, steptronic and sport package. If you have access to tools all those problems you stated could be fixed by yourself pretty easily. I've done the expansion tank, PS hoses, brakes and window regulators

You might be able to do all those things yourself. I am a walking disaster with tools in my hand. I can build PCs with the best of them, but auto mechanics and woodworking are far beyond my skill set.

given the right forum and people to help you, it is really easy to do.
Just like the photo sub-forums vs the rest of the site. I've always found the 3 series forums quite a bit "different" for help.

For those of you who are looking for Canon accessories, they are having a sale for 20% off. Use code 7311 at checkout, and it appears to stack with current discounts.

If only refurb lenses were considered "accessories"

Thanks, Kevin, but no need. I just ordered a refurbed one from Hunt's in Boston through Amazon. I had some Amazon gift certificates, so it only cost me $790 out of pocket.

Now the long wait for delivery.

It will give you time to take out the wife for dinner and such. Then the explanation of why there is a new package on the doorstep.
Practice your ducking.
Enjoy.
I hear the 24-105 mk II IS is coming out tomorrow for $825 ( not really, just jealous)

will be worth wait.

I love having lenses where the F stop doesn't change when i zoom in and out. I have no need to worry about changing my exposure to match.

That's right. I sort of but didn't really buy a 24-105mm F4. If it happens to show up at my office, I'll be shocked, surprised, amazed, and confused. But of course at that point it won't make sense to send it back.
