Anyone dent a rental car? What's the usual coverage through your

auto insurance and Amex? Should I say I was driving or it was what I found after I got back from eating in a parking lot?
Should I just try to fix it myself? Thanks.

Your insurance will cover it, assuming you have full coverage on your personal vehicle. It will not pay for the time out of force however (which they WILL charge you for) unless you have UNOC or other Unowned vehicle coverage.

my amex covers it 100% if i use it to pay. i've never done the research per se, but i trust it.

You could just do what my brother does and total 2 POS rental cars in a row trying drift on highway over passes...

Semi-educated guesses:

Time out of force - covering losses suffered by owner because vehicle is not in rental fleet.

UNOC: Use of non owner cars, cars which you do not own.

He's correct. Rental companies will charge you the normal rental rate for the days their vehicle is in the shop being worked on. UNOC is usually $5-10/mo at most companies, so it's smart to add it when you plan on renting a vehicle. You can remove it when you are complete. Knowledge for future.

I've read many stories rental companies charged $1000 because the car was out of service for a month for the repair. And there's nothing you can do but pay up.

That's why paying for LDW is a good idea.

But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
