yes I've gotten emails to work with the method technic describes about changing from 5 unread to 10 unread via notification settings for mail on my iphone...I haven't consistantly done it so I can't say I have consistantly received emails...aside from changing 5 to 10...your phone needs to be in lock screen mode from what I've experienced (phone screen locked/black/off)

Mike, are you able to get the new 2013 idrive interface into our CIC idrives?

I'm pretty sure the CIC nav is end-of-life this year and if a retrofit was possible, it would require a whole new set of equipment, not just a software load.

Yes, but you'll need to have CIC nav, Combox and 6FL. Then you need the car coded.

Thanks for the info. I have a 2011 NAV and the 6FL, but not sure about the combo box?

Build date is 5/2010 thought...

Would guess you need a new combox (approx $600) and you need someone to code it. Will defer to the experts though. Bottom line, it can be done if you have the right parts and the car is then coded for it.

There is something wrong. I entered my X3 VIN# and came up invalid. It has worked in the past. Probably the server is down.

I've got the same error. Maybe they are updating the software to version 07?

Can't get my Samsung S4 to pair with Bluetooth.

First time poster. 2011 M3.
I've been trying to pair my international Samsung S4 phone with the Bluetooth iDrive, but for some reason the pairing just fails. I've updated the software on the iDrive to the latest but still no luck. I can't seem to find any info about this same issue from anyone else. Any ideas?

May be try updating the firmware for the phone. I don't have any experience with Samsung but there have been reports about issues pairing idrive and Samsung.

Post some as to what's happening when pairing and then unpaired. There are experts here who will be able to help you.

Thanks for chiming in. I've since updated the software of the phone to Android version 4.3, but no dice. I've read many issues that occur after the pairing process was successful, but none where even the pairing handshaking doesn't work.

Basically I go to iDrive to Add a new Phone; it prompts me to start the search from my phone which I do; it says "Pairing ..." on my phone; iDrive then prompts me for the passkey; but my phone never gets to the point where it gives a passkey; it just gives an error message like "Pairing failed".
I've tried it with ignition off and on. It just doesn't want to pair.

use 0000 as the passkey on the idrive and see what happens. I think the passkey is the issue here. L:et me know.

Hmmm... this seemed to have done the job. I used 0000 as passkey and pressed OK, and this prompted my phone to ask for the same passkey. So this worked. It's not exactly intuitive as is, since no one would know the passkey without being told.

In any case, thanks for the tip!
