"Another option on the table at the moment, according to our source, would be to keep the folding hard top concept, but with carbon fiber panels and carbon fiber arm extensions. This would be costly, for sure, but it would achieve a higher level of interior noise reduction without much weight."
CF does wonders for weight reduction but is terrible for higher noise transmission (I work in acoustics software...) Magazines... ugh. |

Half correct
The stiffness is a problem but stiffness and damping are not tied together. Damping of CF composites can be quite good in fact. The problems with CF are simply that it is light (mass blocks sounds well) and that it has a higher raditation efficiency compared to steel.
