Socal Recent Potholes Warning

Our roads arent any more durable than those HPFPs on N54 engines. After just one day of heavy rain, i've noticed a large increased amount of potholes on my daily commute and they are the UGLY ones.

Just wanna make a thread to keep a note to myself as well as for the others so we can see less "o shit i bent my rims" or "damn... crashed" threads

so here's what i've noticed so far

405 South, right before Jamboree exit. Outer most lane. FOUR consecutive big potholes (2 on the left and 2 on the right). AVOID at all cost. THESE will for sure bent your aftermarket rims.

I will update the thread if people actually give a damn.

Thanks for the heads up. The info is much appreciated.

I dont what the cause was, but exiting the 5S @ Jamboree yesterday (1/18)around 5:30, the underpass to head East (turning left) was shut down by 3 x CHP and 1 x IPD. There was a Caltrans maintenance vehichle laying down cones and all traffic was being diverted to the West. If this is still happening, avoid the area b/c it added ~30 mins to my commute. I suspect there was roadway damage here b/c it didnt look flooded but it was a fairly severe reaction to whatever was happening.

+1. I never understand why wilshire is so bad, with so many huge companys on that street one would think it'll be flawless.

yeah, about the potholes...if you live and drive in the LA area a lot, you might be able to claim your tranny issues (Should you have any) on insurance because the roads are full of potholes and shifting in the middle of one is not good for the car!

I was over at a mechanics shop and he was doing 12K worth of repair work on a porsche for tranny and mount problems and it was covered by insurance because of the letter the owner wrote to the insurance company stating what I said above....might be worth a shot, you never know!

it's because of all the huge companies that wilshire blvd is jacked up... huge companies = more traffic (i.e - employees driving to work, more bus routes, cars and trucks for deliveries fed ex / ups etc etc)

the road is like sex... only so many miles can be put on before it starts to wear and tear... the "bigger" the vehicle, the quicker the wear and tear...

but yeah, pretty much any heavily travelled street in southern cali is getting mini swimming pools... i just went on westwood blvd, and i dodged 4 potholes that were NOT there 48 hours ago... caltrans is already on westwood blvd dumping stuff into the newly formed potholes...

lastly, to the guy who asked if we drive our M's in the rain, why would we not?? you know it only rains here (do NOT include this past week) about 14-21 days out of the year... what are we supposed to do, buy a beater for the maybe 2 weeks of rain we will have??

For some reason I've noticed that the segment of the 405 in Irvine is the worst maintained. I always find debris and bad pavement. On the other hand the 5 in Irvine is great.

I saw this thread last night and this afternoon I hit one of them (Soto north of I-10) and is in need of a new front tire (rim is okay).

Anyone know where I can get a used 18" Michelin PS2 for the front?
