Dealer Premium on M3 - WOW $$

Hey guys, I'm a new member here and thought I might introduce myself and share my experience at my local dealer.

First off, I'm a huge M fan, have been for many years now and I'm planning to order an M3 soon. Graphite/Novillo Red, fully loaded and M-DCT. So I'm eagerly waiting for someone to drive one so they can give us a review, much like a lot of you are.

I went to my local dealership today, here in Miami to get a close up look and feel out the M3. (By the way, the reflectors look horrible on black) I absolutely love the car and just the overall presence that it has is really inspiring. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a test drive since it was the only car they had and it was right smack in the middle of the showroom. So finally I decided to ask how much (just for giggles) and needless to say I wasnt giggling much after he told me the total comes to....drum roll... $89,500

They wanted $20k over and then proceeded to explain to me that that's how it always is for their new M's. Anyone else getting stratospheric numbers like that?

Anyway, Cheers. Nice to join the community, I love this forum.

Dealer says no M-DCT till May.

Sounds like the dealership has not done their homework. The demand is not high enough to warrant markups. Lots of cars across the country available right now at MSRP. It would be extremely foolish for anyone to take them up on their MSRP+ offer.

As for DCT, no cars have been shipped yet. I think the first to arrive are slated for mid-April. Check the ordering forum, there is a thread for those waiting on DCT cars I believe.

Yea your dealer is way off, i suggest find a more reputable dealer that is not shady.

M-DCT does not come out in may, I and many other members have cars optioned with M-DCT that finished production last week. Should be here first-second week of April.

The only other dealers I've heard that are charging above MSRP are the LA area dealers.

Well this is a very reputable dealer. They actually sell exotics and are one of the very few Bugatti authorized dealers in the US.

Maybe that's why they can afford to sell their cars at that price. There are lots of people around here that don't know the value of money, but that's still very very high.

Selling exotics doesn't necessarily make them reputable.. Is it possible that they are just plain old greedy?

Well, having great deals doesnt make a dealer reputable either. I was just trying to point out that they are a well known dealer that sells a whole lot of cars here in south florida.

I'm not trying to define what a reputable dealer is here. All im saying is that the guy I talked to was insane for thinking he could get away with a price like that. Specially since I knew more about the car than he did.

Perhaps I'll have better luck tomorrow.

My dealer never charges over MSRP, even for the Z8. Hey, it's a free market, but I wouldn't deal with sleezes like that.

Agreed, if he marks them 20k over then fine. Maybe he'll sell the car maybe he wont.

When you run into someone like that don't even bother arguing with them but very simply, save your time and energy and go to another dealership

Vista BMW in Ft Lauderdale sold 2 yesterday for $25k over each!!!!!!

Both Miami dealers are asking for 20k over.

I too live in Miami & have an order in for June in the Ft. Myers dealership 2.5 hours away. Why you ask? MSRP baby They are the only dealership that will get my business for bimmers from here on in. It literally was a 5 minute call. With the Miami dealers, I had to jump through a bunch of hoops before they hit me with the mark up BS.

I only hope the idiots who paid nearly $100K for an E92 M3 sign on to the forums so the can be justifyably critisized

If the economy was better we would be seeing a lot of these cars going for 10K+ over.
