When you read it...
* Does not apply to M vehicles - see below for further information. Then it says it does. or Castrol EDGE Professional OE 5W30 Synthetic Engine Oil BMW part number 07 51 0 037 195 Just stick with 10/60. It's super cheap anyway.

It is definitely a better fit for the tight clearances than the 10W60! This proves that the thought process on recommending the M1 0W40 was a step in the right direction! The M1 and the Castrol 5W30 they are recommending have very similar properties!

Kawasaki, BMRLVR and others were 100% correct on the oil issue. Actually I would not be surprised if the publicity of the blown S85 engines/rod bearing wear and the S65 rod bearing clearance threads and oil threads got BMW's attention (they like many other corporations are on social media boards, as we know). Moreover, another board member getting a check for more than full value of his M3 which had spun bearings and ruined his engine is another indication that something is amiss that BMW/M is aware of. I don't think it's coincidental that the oil options have changed and is a big vindication of the opinions of experts on this board. Thanks for your contribution to the community. In a strange way, I even thank longwong too..lol.

It's blood expensive at $39/ltr in Australia. I am one of those lucky ones that gets them very cheap. BMW is ripping the customers big time in Australia. I don't know about North America.
So an oil change in Australia will cost you close to $600 depending where you go.

We get it for around $12 bottle, and it's called "Liquid Gold" by many. You must call it "Liquid Diamond" in Australia!!! .

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

We might be able to get diamond a lot cheaper here ... That's the recommended retail price and you get charged the full amount. Take that now.

Guess what I'll be asking for at my next oil change! Seems like BMW has @ least been listening, but doesn't want to own up and do a recall. even the alpina is 5w-30. Can't really blame them as most people will be trading these in anyway and its an expensive fix.

10w60 to a 5w30 is a huge jump. Im wondering if this is a mistake and if they wanted to list the new turbo engines for 5w30.
They still list 10w60 as the first choice and the 5w30 as a alternative.
