Goodbye M3, hello.....

Well, it served me well and I'm sure I'll miss it some days, but I got an offer I can't refuse on both the trade and the new car to replace the M3. Just the right options on the car at a crazy price. I've wanted one since I was a kid and now's a good a time as any to do it. Tons of powers out of the box and tons of potential and better gas mileage then the M. Just about anything I couldn't eat before is powdered toast now, all at a price less than an above-average equipped 335i.

I'm trading a back seat for more power but I'm ok with it. I still have my E90 to carry the family around.

No pictures of the car until I take delivery in a week, but for now, here's one of the engine....

quite a change. it's a lot bigger car and feels heavier in general. you're not going to get the same agility as you get from the M3. but hey, if you want power, you'll definitely get that!

congrats!

Awesome! I think the new design is great. I would have considered one, but too pricey and it would be hard to have be my only car.

Nice! Since you already have an E90, it's probably a lot easier to make that kind of change. I'm sure it'll be nice to have that car to play around with, and use the E90 for the regular drives.

Post more pics when you can!

God the mods for that thing are ridiculously cheap and they make really good power.

Great buy and hope you like it.

The steering definitely feels heavier. It takes more steering effort to move across mutliple lanes. In the M3 it took a flick of the wrist, in the C6 it takes more of a pull.

But good god this thing is fast. The power from the M is impressive but it's nothing compared to the feel of this car when you dump it. It's got the Z51 package so it's got enough brakes to stop this beast and it will pull about 1G on the skidpad. Nasty stuff.

For a couple grand you can get the mods in place to run high 3's in 0 to 60's, basically Z06 times. You can't do that with an M, everything is too damn expensive to boost up the power.

The build quality is alot better than it's ever been, which is always something that kept me away until now and with the exception of the Z06, it's really without peer in the dollars to performance ratio department. Less than 50K for a car that will wipe the floor with cars that cost 2X as much in a straight line or on the track.

Dealers are making crazy deals right now, even if you don't buy one, if you have any passion in your blood for performance cars you owe it to yourself to go test drive one.

I noticed that the corvettes have 18x8.5 wheels upfront and 19x10 wheels in the rear. what is the point in that, and more importantly, do they fix the tire diameters to keep the rolling height consistent, since they have a lsd system. also, the tires that come stock are EMT(RFT)! I may have to see if they come in sizes that will fit my wheels.

edit: thanks to ur thread, ive been looking at zo6's and vipers for the past hr. i just realized they totally messed up the look of the new dodge viper. the front bumper and overall stance looks like shit now... front looks like that damn charger now..

I hate the new vipers. They have screwed up the look of them a little more every time they release a new one. Chevy gets better, dodge gets worse.

Congrats!!! I drove one here in Vegas at the GM Ultimate Test Drive that they had set up at the Sahara and I have to say it was SWEET!!! I drove it back to back with a GTO and I have to say I was very impressed. Acceleration was felt so ridiculously fast that going back to my E90 felt like I was driving a Yugo!!

And the Vette is an excellent handling car on a track as well - it beats Ferraris (much to the horror of Clarkson and his merry band of Americophobes).

If I could afford to get a car for tracking only (or primarily) I would get the the C6 in Z06 config. I can put up with an average interior given the total package.

But ona daily basis the C6 is not a car I personally could live with. You are fortunate to be able to have more than one car for yourself (assuming therefore a minimum 3 car household).

Please post pics ASAP, I want to see your new wild and sexy child.

Since I have the E90, owning a 2 seater is not an issue. I'm going to get a beater for the bad days in winter. I test drove one at length again today and with the base suspension, it's a better daily driver than the M3. It feels strangely similar to a sedan on normal city driving, if you could shut your eyes and just feel the ride you'd never guess you where in a Corvette. Take a corner fast though and you quickly remember what you're driving.
