Feel the weight?
I really like the bbs ch for my e90, but I know they are heavier than the stock zcp wheel which is heavier than my oem 18s
I learned a long time ago that heavy wheels is a big no no. On all my cars. But this is the first v8 and heaviest car I have ever owned. I wonder if you don't feel the weight impact as much as I did on my e30 and e36 m3's? Those with heavy wheels but more importantly, experience with diff wheel sets pls chime in Ty |

You will feel the weight. An overall heavier wheel/tire combination will feel clunkier on the street. Steering responsiveness will feel more sluggish, although heavier tires can affect this more than heavier wheels. Still, if you are spending the money on aftermarket wheels, why not go lighter. FWIW, in my experience, about a 3-4lb difference is slightly noticeable. A 5lb difference or more is easily noticeable.

It's noticeable....my daily wheels are CH-R's and when I switch to my track wheels there's a difference. It doesn't bother me because my daily wheels are for cruising and looking good . I'm running wider tires so that factors in also..............Phil

I agree with the other guys. I've gone about 5lbs over and under with different wheels/tires. Do yourself a favor, if going aftermarket and handling is important to you, keep the weight down. It's one of the best mods you can do to enhance the feel of the car.

I feel if you are going with a wider tire, it will probably be heavier. You can offset quite a bit of this with a lighter wheel.

I have the Dinan spec BBS CH-R and I actually love these for daily driving. I think they feel alot better than the stock 19s and definitely better handling than my ISS FORGED 3 piece 20s. Granted the 20s are more show than any thing.
Both the BBS CHR 19s and my 20s are alot wider and currently I have Conti DWS on my DINAN BBS CHR. The tire size is 265/30 and 285/30 and believe it or not these tires are lighter than my PSS. Not by a ton, but a few pounds per corner in the same sizing. These are great everyday tires and I have been really impressed by how they drive and handle. |
