Best way of Reving under a tunnel??

So I\'m still learning the ins and outs of my baby and I was wondering what\'s the best way to rev the engine under a tunnel?
I have the dct option and I\'ve tried switching to neutral and revving but when I switch back it always jumps up to 7th gear. I\'ve also tried giving 2-3 quick downshifts and reving but it\'s not the same sound!

Set the volume to either 4 or 5. Downshift to 2nd or 3rd depending on speed. Profit from rev match. Having an xpipe helps alot.

This may sound rediculous, but this is one of the main reasons I got a manual. I want to be able to rev when I want to rev the engine.

^^ the DCT doesn't let you.... but what i do is right before a tunnel, i slow a bit down, downshift to 2nd or 3rd and slam on the gas to hit redline, specially with the top down it's awesome

I had to consider this statement for a bit to understand what you were trying to do and how you accomplished it and when I did understand, I was a little bit .

In a lot of ways DCT is like a manual but what you're trying to do isn't one of them. There's a reason that DCT makes you apply the brake before switching to neutral and drive modes and making the switch at-speed, let alone, 7th gear speed, is just a bad idea, simply because the car wasn't meant to be driven that way. I'm surprised you didn't generate an iDrive error message...perhaps because BMW engineers thought "nah...nobody would try and do that, would they?".

If you're coming from a MT I might understand your reasoning, but even doing this with a MT wouldn't make much sense.

If you're looking to generate some 'look at me' engine noise in a tunnel just downshift to second.

Lol yea it was a bit foolish. No error message or anything but I'll have to suck it up and downshift with dct -.- should've gotten manual

As long as the car is moving you can change between S,D and N without having to press the brake. So you can be in neutral in the tunnel and rev the engine to your hearts desire and then switch to S or D when your satisfied.

Why would you want to rev an engine that is not under load in a tunnel? Yeah, it sounds good, sure, but it sounds WAAAAY better while under load. So DCT or 6MT, as another poster said above, slow down going into the tunnel, grab 2nd gear, got to WOT, and shift at redline.

I'm with him. I put my car in second gear and floor it until redline, in fact, driving under a tunnel is one of my favorite parts about having this car
