I grew up in Branford, CT and moved to Tolland, CT when I was 16. I like moving, I'm not one to stay in the same place too long. I don't think I will be here for more than a couple years.

I think you'll grow to love Boston, if you can tolerate the winters.

Make sure you get out to Nantucket for a day or 2 this summer; easy trek, daytrip or overnight.

I used to go out to Nantucket every other weekend when living in Boston, in the summer. I had friends working out there during college.

You'll get sick of moving after a while.

Yeah there's no point buying a house to live in for a year. I don't think I have enough for a down payment anyways, I just graduated college lol.

you gonna like this as well, you say you dont have enough for a down payment and you are throwing away $1000 a month. Yeah, i know it sounds depressing but that is reality. yeah, a house might not be right for you at this point. maybe buy a condo and still get something back when you move and dont have to worry about maitenance or yard work.

But where do I get the money for the condo? It's not like I can just go to a real estate agent and be like I want to put no money down and pay $1k a month on a $200k+ condo. Even so anything half as nice as where I am now would be at least $400k.

I would say you're doing fine. Live in the City, have FUN and focus on your career!

Marriage, kids, suburbia, mortgages, diapers, day care, PTA meetings, etc. can wait a few more years.

Dude...no way.

In boston...buying a house or condo is not cheap. I lived there for over 4 years....in coolidge corner. You are not going to get anything remotely nice for a mortgage of $1900 a month. Renting is about all she can do at this point...particularly since her share is $1000. You cannot find anything nice that is bigger than a closet if you live alone for $1000. So...living with someone and sharing the cost is pretty much a must.

And even if she is able to find something that looks decent for that amount...no way she is going to want to live in the area that it would be located.

i wish i could but i will only be gone for 4-6 months and i read that they hold them in customs for weeks. Not only that but I then have to find a pet friendly apartment. I dont know how it would work out.

What are you going to tokyo for...just to experience it or for work?

Should be pretty kick ass...probably alot different then here.
