Any fellow M3 owners want to invade VIR?

Hi,

Just trying to stir up some interest in going to one or both MazdaDrivers.com events at VIR this year. The first one is in June and will use the 4.2 mile Grand Course. The one in August will use the 3.37 mile Full Course. I plan to go to both. They put on one helluvan event = excellent instruction, focus on safety, gobs of track time. Just a bit of advice... get a temp hitch for your M3 and bring the quad or dirt bikes... the place is hugh and there are numerous trails for hiking, biking, and romping around on motorized toys

I might be in for the August date... My e90 wont get delivered until early June so I'll need some time to rack up the miles to break it in.

Very possible. Couple questions:
1. How far from Pgh?
2. How much $$?

It's about 454 miles from my driveway in Gibsonia, to the track entrance (Gibsonia is about 15 miles north of Pittsburgh). It takes between 7 and 7.5 hours. We'd go 79 to 19 to 77 to 58. The drive along 58 is absolutely awesome... lots of twisties through the mountains and breathtaking scenery ("Lover's Leap" especially). It's a good warm-up for the track. We'd leave early on Friday and then leave to return home Sunday evening. The price should be on the website. If not, email them. But does it really matter? You drive an M3

The guy who runs it is Dave Nugent, and he does a fantastic job. He's been running these events for 10 years now, starting at Summit Point in 1999 and moving to VIR in 2001. You usually see quite a mix of cars and people, from young first-timers with their suped-up Mazdas to former pro racers in their prototypes, and everything in between (Vipers, Vettes, F430s, Elises, GT2s, etc.)
