I got like a 145 euro ticket in Germany for tailgating. That shit sucked! Never again.

Was just watching TopGear yesterday.... They said governments lie about speed/accident statistics to get money. Independent research says that only 7% of all accidents is caused by speeding.

So i am sure VT is short on cash now....

The other 93% is caused by women drivers.

The biggest irony is that this thread has nothing whatsoever to do with general E90/ E92/ E93 discussion.

OP SHOULD be banned for breaking the rules, but moderators should give OP 4 more chances before ban hammer.

No 2 speedometers are going to read the same, so how do you possibly enforce this?

I spend a lot of time on the highways. In 65 zones I'll go about 72mph and if I would be pulled over, I won't lie, I'd be livid.

It makes me crazy to feel that me going 72mph with a well maintained car is the unsafe person vs a beatup old minivan with a spare and 3 bald tires doing the speedlimit at 65mph is considered a safe and law abiding citizen.

While I completely agree with you... that's not the society most agreed to live in. When you go to the DMV and get a state approved license followed by giving the car title to the state and you agreeing to "use" their car and put their plates on their own vehicle you have essentially agreed to bend over backward for any infraction one of their policy (police) workers deems to fine you. No one reads the terms of the contract for carrying around a state driver's license. Once you know the rules, you may decide to operate differently

I agree with this 110%. Why not enforce other violations ?

but i know the answer, its much easier to make money with speed traps...no one really cares about safety of others.

Inspection is supposed to take care of the unsafe cars, but many people who drive unsafe cars know that you can still pass inspection for $80 bucks under the table. I personally drove a car for 1 year without passing the inspection, so instead of enforcing speeding, its a good idea to enforce that instead

^^This!^^ It's also illegal to be in the left lane unless you are passing slower traffic to the right, but I never see this enforced. Some States will actively enforce this because idiots who feel entitled to 'park' in the left lane incite road rage. Unfortunately, many of our speed limits are artificially low because we need to keep the general population safe, since not everyone who has a license has the proper skills to operate a vehicle safely at the speeds that they have been designed to operate.

Hello all,
I live in Romania but here you can pass the speed limit for about 6mph (10kmh)without getting a ticket, only a verbal warning.
They say that 6mph(10kmh) is the calibration limit of the cameras.
My concern are the tickets for seatbelts wearing in town, I mean WTF - how ugly can a car accident can be at 35mph ????
You can fall on the sidewalk and get greater injuries.
