Wow, what an awesome rebuild!
Rich, love everything you've done to Kylie! And the engine swap looks very clean. I have an S14 Engine and its quick already, but this!

Also, some very nice other E30 in here, so I thought I might show mine as well.
Its a 320is which was only sold in Italy. Its a regular 325 2-door body with M-Technic body kit and a S14 engine reduced to 2000cc. It also has the 5 Speed dogleg Getrag gearbox. Only 2500 units were built as the 2-door version.
Added some BBS RS 3-piece wheels and some minor mods, like Z3 shifter for shorter throws. I also had the steering wheel refurbished, but opted for normal BMW leather with ///M-stitching. Its nice and thick now!
As someone pointed out earlier, I might go down the E36 steering rack route soon. It only has 3.5 turns lock to lock opposed to 4.5 turns on standard E30 steering. Much more direct and cheap, too!

I had the engine completly rebuilt over the winter due to a water damage caused by a blown (unnoticed) head gasket. Another € 6,000 down the drain, but well worth it!

Just out of curiosity, would that total price go down significantly if it was an S50 instead?
Don't think the price would go down at all much. The swap while slightly different is just about as labor intensive. A few different bits and pieces, but overally very similar.

Good old bottlecaps

Now that is a rare and awesome car! I never even knew there was a 320is! Fantastic and thanks for sharing!

Very nice, thank you I think the trunk line is better on the 325 than on the M3. Looks very good.

I love it. I like how you kept it looking the way it was meant to. Looks like it came right off the factory floor.

I go back and forth on that one. The trunk line is not quite as elegant as the 325i, absolutely... but it's an M3.

I love it! That was kind of the look we were going for doing it this way. What would an E30 look like if it were new, today. Ultimately there are a few bits I'd like to improve (Go back to the OEM Radio w/ Euro Clock Center console, change the door cards so there is a little more leather and a little less suede, M-Tech 1 Body kit) but they are all gravy at the moment. We've accomplished the meat of what we were trying to do and I'm happy that you guys love her!

stefan : Here is the build thread on r3vlimited.com

Unfortunately a few of the pictures are from an Old flickr account and have since been deactivated, but I am planning on creating a new build album once I have time for all to see.

Now this is how I would like my E30 to turn out someday. Mine is also alpine white with the basket weave BBS wheels, so it makes it easy for me to visualize.

She could do either a Blacked out or Chrome grille. I am thinking about changing to see how it looks.
