M3 vs Scirocco R race car - "follow me lap" on the Nordschleife racetrack
Hi guys,
I posted many onboard laps here but this one is "special". A good friend of mine kept the pedal to the metal in his Volkswagen and followed me through traffic. What car is it? It's basically a VW Scirocco R racecar. Power in the range of 340HP and a lot of torque. It's ~250kg/ 550lbs lighter than my M3 and runs on the same 265/35-18 Cup tires. The weight difference is really worth a lot. He has less power but the difference is very minor. Just on the really long straights the M3 can move away. Have fun and enjoy watching => HD-Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qb91AYF6lRc&hd=1

I've also followed a Scirocco cup car here in shanghai f1 circuit and it was my first time spinning out due to trying my best to follow the lines of cup car at turn 7 into turn 8, then i realized the weight difference was grossly larger than I anticipated and rear stepped out due to weight transfer. I usually brake in middle of the transition between turns to load the front tires a bit but did not do so since the cup car did not (it doesn't need to with less weight and much more tuned suspension) that and coupled with a decreasing elevation change. It was still fun trying to chase it though

Wow, great video.
Sirocco is always a favorite. The new Golf R supposed to be a brawler with 300hp mated to a 6 speed manual. |

That slow speed turn when you get practically sideways while making a pass is ridiculous. WOW! Thanks for sharing.

Great to see how a lighter car with less power can keep up with your already stripped M3..
I hope BMW will release some "Club" versions of the future M3/M4 Enough with heavy M cars!!! That pic is awesome |
