But wait, there's more. The transport ships are like giant parking decks (GIANT) and they drive the cars in and out. Sometimes they get dented. So when you get to the U.S. vehicle prep center, they spend a week or two getting the body work repaired and repainted. The good news is, they do a really good job.

Ask me how I know . . . .

Just got confirmation on the WW logistics site that my car left Bremerhaven yesterday on the "Asian King." It should arrive in NY on 6/19.

Wanna talk about the longest 2 week wait in the friggin world. My M3 was at the dealer 30 min away and I had to wait 2 weeks for paper work snafu's. I would drive down a couple times per week just to look at her in the showroom and make sure no fools were touching her. LOL I got obsessed with waiting.

Then I had to wait for 1200 miles!!! But good things come to those who wait.

Looks like the next ship is the "Don Juan" leaving Bremerhaven on 6/20 and arriving New York on 7/5.

Glad to hear it Doc.

Mine still isn't in. Got off boat 28th May. Dealer isn't providing much in details. Hoping it's within the next week or I'm gonna have to start rattling my Sabre.

It's a good feeling when you see it boarded though isn't it.

NICE Doc. Got word that mine hopped on the Independence II and would be in Baltimore on 6/18. I'm hoping to pick it up the 22 or 23 (Fri or Sat after)

FWIW, I dropped my E93 off at Munich (military sales) on the 31MAY and is scheduled on the "Integrity" with a departure date of 15JUN and a arrival date of 27JUN to Baltimore. E.H. Harms is the transport agent, but Wallenius is the actual shipping agent.

Granted drops off may process in a completely different way from factory completed orders, but I had drive south by the Regensberg M3 plant to get to Munich.

Good luck to those waiting!

I was provided with the information from the E.H. Harms tracking site. My car was a drop off at the Munich airport (with a host of Mercedes and Audis in the lot).

I am not sure if the military sales / ED process is markedly different from those shipped from the factory. Based upon their estimate, the car should arrive on Baltimore after about 28 days in transit, including trucking to the port from Munich. The Regensberg factory is closer by about an hour or so, but again "new orders" may process differently.

I was pretty happy with the transit time.

Somewhat unrelated, but our other car was shipped via the government agent and took about 5 weeks to get to Edison, NJ via trucking to Bremerhaven. Perhaps not the best comparison though.

Good luck with the wait, may it pass quickly!

Mine just left Bremerhaven on the Integrity today - sat in port for 17 days!!
My daughters boyfriend did a stint on the Integrity when he was at Kingspoint in NY as part of his schooling. Said it looks like a giant parking lot with 5 movable decks. He said that he heard that one of the car carriers hit roughs seas once and all the cars broke loose from their straps and slammed against the side of the ship.

I am hoping for good weather

My car arrived in NY today - it's off the ship! I'm hoping for a speedy delivery to my dealer in Central NJ.

My car arrived at the Charleston port on June 27. Hopping a truck for PCD. Heading to SC for July 18 PCD

For those wondering how long it takes for new M3 - dealer got allocation from another dealer around April 16. My car sat in Bremerhaven for 2 weeks before finding a ship. 3 months from deposit at dealer to delivery (hopefully).

Very nice! Mine sustained a little shipping damage. I am not sure if it was shipboard or on the overland hauler on either side of the pond. Now to file the claim with the carrier.....

If the vehicle sustained damage on the ship, BMW fixes it at their port facility. Looks like your damage was sustained by the ground shipping company.

My M3 is a military sales "re-delivery", so therefore does not get the benefit of the port facility fix, as far I as I have been told. It just passes through and gets released to the owner at the port, or in my case picked up by the optional inland shipper. I just have to play the game of who will take the responsibility. E.H. Harms, stated that I had to go through Wallenius for the claim.

The actual damage is not readily spotted, but I know that it is there. A set of splitters would cover the front damage.

In total, the estimate come to about $1700. The "benefit" is that as the front bumper will need repair I can have the plate holes filled (KS does not provide front plates) and I can have the reflectors filled. I will pay for those out of pocket, of course. It will already be in the paint shop, so the hit will not be too bad.

We shipped three cars from Germany:

Sienna Limited on orders: small dent at the rear hatch (bought the wife a 2012 Limited anyway)

M3 on military shipment purchase plan: see above

Honda CRV (winter car): shipper opened up the entire drivers side on the truck

3 for 3 on damage.....I hate moving! At least the Honda took the brunt.
