Broken Windshield

Anyone had to replace theirs? A big rock broke mine going north on the 404 at lunch today. Called the dealer and they quoted $1541 tax in. Any better options out there?

Garage List
You will always be able to find a cheaper one, but it most likely will not be OEM. I would personally stick with OEM.

Speedy quoted $883. And they offer mobile service vs an overnight trip to the dealer (cure time). Something is definitely different between them. I'm leaning towards BMW and just paying my insurance deductible. Not sure I want some random tech working on my car in the parking garage at thmy office or messing with the rain sensors.

Luckily I had ICBC coverage and got an OEM BMW one for the price of my deductible. If I had no insurance, I'd think long and hard about replacing the cracked one with something less than OEM.

When you call the shops to get quotes they'll always say "Oh.. glass is all from the same place" Its not true. I had a new aftermarket windshield installed in my 335. They did it for $199.

The rain sensor wasn't as sensitive after and the aftermarket glass doesn't seem to be as strong as the OEM glass as far as rock chips go. it seems that every rock that hits the glass will chip.
