Exclamation Roadside Assistance - Who has you covered?

The time has come. My 4yr/50k factory warranty is expiring at the end of this month and with it, my No-Cost Maintenance and Roadside Assistance coverage.

Rather than beat the dead horse that is "extended warranty and/or maintenance coverage decision of a lifetime", my question pertains directly to Roadside Assistance and only Roadside Assistance.

I want to have some sort of coverage "just in case" so I'll put the question to the masses.

Question - Which roadside / emergency assistance protection do you have?

1. Vote. The poll will tell us who the cool kid is.
2. Reasoning. Think cliff notes. I'm sure [insert coverage] helped you out of a serious jam once. If you feel compelled to share, keep it short. We'll get the gist.

Note: If you're under factory warranty (and coverage), please don't vote. That will only skew the numbers as you didn't choose BMW Roadside Assistance. You chose an M3. If you'd like to leave your past experiences in place of your reasoning, that would be swell.

I go through allstate and their roadside was barely a couple dollars a month more with how I have my policy set up (house, two cars, etc. etc.). I've only used them once when I still had my E46 M3 a few years back. The thermostat went bad while I was on the way to Scottsdale (thank goodness, too) so I gave em a ring. Only took 5-10 minutes of phone time to send up a tow truck from Phoenix and they towed me to BMW North Scottsdale from Camp Verde. That's roughly 100 miles to the dealership, so I think I got my money's worth.

We have AAA primarily for the wife's '74 2002 Tii! But the USAA extended warranty I purchased also includes roadside assistance so I'm effectively covered twice... Didn't buy the USAA warranty for the roadside assistance!

BMW covers my '13 M3, but when I was in an accident, it was going to take them over 2 hours to respond (I was in the middle of an intersection). Our metro area probably has 500,000+ people, so not tiny, but really poor service. When I had a flat with new tires setting at my independent shop, BMW would only tow me to the dealership. So far, BMW roadside service is pretty useless. AAA has been pretty good.

I purchased mine through my auto insurance, State Farm. It was dirt cheap, something like $33/year or something like that.

It covers towing up to $250/tow. Basically, if I need a tow, I find the company I want and service that I want. Pay for it first, then they'll compensate me up to $250.

Sweet deal to me.

BTW, HOT TIP: If you're in California, AND you break down during rush hours on a highway, the CA DOT will tow you FOR FREE! The state contracts out the service to private authorized companies, they tow you, then they bill the state for the service. There's a number you call, but here's the info:

+1 for BMW roadside. When we lived in Aspen had a problem (it was definitely driveable) with wife's X3, BMW towed it to/from the dealer, about 150 miles away. No questions asked.
