First let me say congrats!! I personally think european delivery is the bestway to buy a new car. I had a blast when i went!
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...ghlight=munich With that said. There are tons to see and do there. How many days are you planning to stay? After that we can help you with some driving routes and places to stay.

I just got the production number.
I arrive in Munich on August 17th and I'm picking up on August 18th. I'm fly back on August 23rd. So, I do have some time to enjoy! Ideas certainly appreciated. |

You have hit the jackpot: Munich is one of the best cities, but seems under the radar. (1) Decide, what you want to do (2) plan, plan your drive/tour (3) stay near downtown so you can walk: yes, you're picking up a BMW but parking is scary and tight! - hence it's stressful to park w/ a new car ... but if you don't worry about that then no worries; I did not want my new M-car to have some extra 'scars' from our Euro Tour. Hence, dropped off before Paris. You can use the excellent U-bahn to get downtown; or wherever. It's all ahead of you and it's a splendid experience. Enjoy my Welt: Voltigeur's ED

I didn't do European Delivery on my order, but I'll surely remember to give great importance to it next time around.
From what everyone is saying, it's one hell of an experience! |

It depends on how long will you stay in Munich and/or EU itself. You dinifintely have to try their beers. It is the best!!! IMHO, one of the best part in EU delivery is the planning on where to go and places to see. Of course, driving the new M3 in the Autobahn is one of them.

I'm thinking:
Munich to Prague Prague to Vienna Vienna to Budapest Budapest to Strasburg Strasburg to Munich Munich to Los Angeles That's about 1700 km or 1065 miles...excluding the Munich to LA segment |

Congrats on your new M3. You will have a great experience with the Euro delivery, especially at the BMW Welt. I just came back yesterday from my Euro delivery trip of my M3 and stayed in Europe for 2 weeks. I traveled to Northern Italy, Switzerland and Germany and covered 2400 miles.
I stayed at a hotel close to the BMW Welt ( 15 min walking distance from the Hotel ) and they also have a garage where I parked my car the day I took delivery. You can use the website booking.com ( It's a priceline.com subsidary ) and they provide some good rates and also will give you options to choose the room type and parking. They have a map and will point out where the hotel is, and will display hotels around it as well. You can use that as a good reference. Your route seems like a good option and nice cities you are going to visit. If you are going to have a navigation system that will be a real time saver when traveling in Europe, and also you can use that to find hotels in the city you are in in-case you don't have a specific itinerary.Enjoy the great beer, wine and food ! I would highly recommend to go on the factory tour on the day after your delivery process is complete, and also visit the BMW museum. U-Bahn ( underground ) is very convenient and it took only 10 min on the train to get to the City Center from where I stayed in Munich. I looked around and had great beer and food. There is a u-Bahn station right next to the BMW Welt and you can get there if you plan on staying in the city center. Enjoy your Euro delivery ! |

Usually you don't want to drive more than 3 hours a day so you can spend more time in each city.Prague is about 3 hours from Muniich,Vienna/Salzberg about 3 hours south.I would add Cesky Krumlov,CZ after Prague and before Austria and skip Budapest this time.Be sure and get toll stickers in CZ as well as Austria ( you also need to buy goofy orange safety vests in Austria for you trunk. Stickers run about 10e and the vests are 14e each. |

Australia! No idea. Don't see why not, however, it should be on the BMW Australia website, assuming they have one.
I've heard that EU delivery is not really cost-effective for Canada and it may be the same thing for AU. Good luck! |

Thanks DemoDave - I spoke to my dealer here in Oz... he didn't even know about Euro Delivery... lol. I would say that due to tax as well as the fact that we drive on the "right" side of the road (car) - hehe... might be a problem.
Anyway... would love the experience... perhaps I should make friends with someone doing a Euro Delivery! haha Good luck/enjoy for those guys doing Euro Delivery.

+1 for Cesky Krumlov, and on the drive back stop at České Budějovice (Budweis), the true home of Budweiser Budvar! Passau or Regensburg also interesting.
